Wow. What a collection of titles.

I stopped skimming when I saw the Nick and Jessica Variety Hour.

Too bad those $19.99 TWILIGHT ZONE collections aren't the most recent...

Yeah. I was thinking I'd find something in here....is Pee-Wee the best they've got to offer? THis is even worse than the Amazon Warehouse sale offerings.

So are those Twilight Zone sets crummy or something? $20 for 9 discs seems good for someone who can't afford the larger set.

What a dreary list of unwanted DVDs - except for THE WELL, a terrific low-budget gem (1951) that explores race relations and mob mentality in a small town.

At first I was going to say that Day of the Dolphin (Directed by Mike Nichols, starring George C. Scott) and the original Assault on Precinct 13 SE (early John Carpenter) are in there. But the first in apparently a non-anamorphic title and neither are a deal (DD has both for 50 center more shipped).

Yeah the original Assault is a good film but it's not much of a killer deal here.

I'd bet if Amazon didn't give away the titles and called it 'bag of crap', people would be making several orders of the stuff.

Last year my family decided for the annual Hanukkah party (one-half of my yearly holiday reapings ) to exchange gifts through a White Elephant game. If you're not familiar with it, remember that episode of The Office with the Yankee Swap? Same damn thing, but not funny like that was.

Well, I'd fully expect one of these atrocities on clearance to show up in a movie basket with some popcorn, Mike and Ikes, and a copy of The Love Guru bought for $8 on Black Friday. Preferably one of the Ron White DVD's or the Nick and Jessica "variety hour".

The only thing even worth picking up IMO is The Pee-wee Herman Show.

The more expensive Home Vision edition of Day of the Dolphin is anamorphic, but I'm not sure about the version that's on sale, since Amazon has a frustrating habit of including all reviews of the film, whether they refer to the edition in question or not. That being said, I believe Home Vision is distributed by Image, who put out the sale version, so it is possible that both are anamorphic.

Did one of those during Christmas time a few years back. Excited to find out Bruce Almighty was up for grabs and I got it. Then I found out it was fool screen. Just got around to putting the sucker up on ebay and sold it.

For what it's worth, the back jacket of this cheaper Image edition indicates that the disc is enhanced for 16x9 TVs:

While I'm sure these are good sets, and a good bargain, most collectors prefer the newer Definitive collection sets. The newer sets are grouped chronologically, by season (e.g. "Season 1, etc). Also, they were supposedly remastered, with better picture and sound (although I haven't compared them). Finally, the Definitive sets are supposed to have more extras. They can also be purchased one season at a time...you don't have to purchase the entire collection. Not much of a bargain right now ($70 per season), but the complete set can sometimes be found on sale for a decent price.

The Twilight Zone collections are a damned good deal for people not caring about the few extras that the remastered version contains. The fact that these are not organized into season sets is no big deal, since this wasn't a serialized show. Even the occasional DD sale doesn't bring the price of the season sets close to what it would cost to get all 5 volumes in this sale.
