In Memoriam: Paul Newman 1925-2008
Access Hollywood has heard from trusted sources that Paul Newman has only weeks to live.

"Veteran actor Paul Newman has completed chemotherapy treatment for lung cancer and told his family he wants to die at home, according to reports.
The movie legend was recently pictured leaving the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York in a wheelchair, looking thin and frail.
Reports now say that Newman, 83, has only weeks to live and is at home with wife Joanne Woodward and his family as he prepares to die.
Last wish
A close family friend tells Britain's Daily Mail: "He didn't want to die in the hospital. Joanne and his daughters are beside themselves with grief."
The Road to Perdition star has reportedly spent the past few weeks sorting out his personal affairs, and his decision to die at home has caused friction between family members.
"He gave a prized car - a Ferrari with his racing number, 82, on it - to a long-time pal.
"The sudden move angered his children," said the source. "It's especially hard for them to come to grips with what's going on.
"The word they've been given is that he has only a few weeks to live."
News reports that Newman, who has been nominated for ten Oscars during his illustrious career, was terminally ill surfaced earlier this year.
But the actor has so far declined to comment on his health, apart from releasing a statement saying he is "doing nicely".
It was revealed last month that Newman, who has three children, had been laying the groundwork for his oldest child, Nell, to take over his salad dressing company.
No word as yet from Newman's spokesperson, but given the star's silence so far, I doubt we'll hear anything until the bitter end.

I mean this is really sad on top of the recent deaths of Bernie and Isaac. Hollywood has hit some bug of late and it is so so devastating. I've heard on and off reports that Newman was sick, but to have it come to fruition is horrible.
I loved so many of his movies (Butch Cassidy, The Sting, The Verdict, Color of Money, Cool Hand Luke, Road to Perdition, Cars, Absence of Malice, among so many more...) and he just commanded the screen everytime he was on it. He is a true legend in his craft and the anticipation of this is really hitting hard.
This really is a bad time for Hollywood and us fans who love these stars who have and are passing with utter shock. They seem to be coming out of nowhere and so hard to cope since they are sudden like with Bernie Mac especially.
Truly sad and unbelievable time this summer has brought with such revered actors and performers passing.

Even though many people would like to believe otherwise, celebs are still flesh and blood humans. It's a shame that Newman is dying, yes, but he has had an amazing career and life, so I think he got his money's worth. Still, never good to hear that someone so many people love is doing poorly.

I saw this on the news today. Sounds like Newman has accepted his fate and has chosen to spend his remaining days with his family instead of hooked up to tubes in the hospital.
He has certainly given us a lifetime of enjoyment up to the very end. Heck Cars was only a couple years ago. He is one of Hollywood's greatest - if not the greatest.

Shit man just in July last year we had Ingmar Bergman, Michelangelo Antonioni, and Michel Serrault die. Pro-B probably didn't even leave his house that month from all the grief.

It's pointless to argue over which one was a "fitting swan song". How many brilliant roles has he had over such a brilliant lifetime?
