BOTH. Grab one as the special edition with instruments, grab the other as game only. Problem solved, ROCK ON!

Only guaranteed if you're on 360.

GHIV has been confirmed as being playable with RB1's & probably RB2's drumkit. However, there will be changes to the chart (as GHIV has 5 "pads" as opposed to RB's 4). Neversoft have said that one "pad" will be dropped if you're playing with the RB kit.

The other way around is not known yet. As RB2 is coming out before GHIV, Harmonix does not know exactly how the GH drums are going to work. I can see them patching in compatibility on the 360 without too much trouble after they've gotten a look at them though.

Ruben

I have a feeling the GH4 drums will be better quality. The RB2 kit just looks the same but black. I'm going to play on each kit before I choose.

If you buy RB2, you will have a HUGE back-log of DLC already for you, so you will have the 84 songs on Disk, the 20free ones on launch day, and all 200 Songs available as DLC, plus you can pick up RB1 for cheap and import all those songs, so RB has a MUCH MUCH better collection of songs available on launch. GH IV will only have (as of now) whats on disk, and I think an REM 3pack of new songs from them on launch day... I say Get RB2, buy a cheap RB1, and pick up GH IV down the road used for cheaper

Strike this, reverse it.

It's confirmed that GH4 will work the the RB instruments, not the other way around (yet).

Given what we know right now, the proper answer is to buy the RB2 bundle (game, drums, guitar, and mic) and add that to your existing GH guitar(s) for a full RB band. Then when GH4 comes out, get the disc only. Sure you'll lose a note on the GH4 drum track, but at least we know it'll work.

It may come out later that RB2 will work the the GH drum set, but we can't advise that right now.

Wow! thats a lot of info.....

Thanks for your input...

So...now it would seem....to get RB2.....If I don't have any of the previous systems.

Will GH4 have down loadable ALBUMS as does RB?

As always, Thanks

Yes, they've already confirmed a Metallica album as DLC... Though right now I can't remember if it works with GH3 and GH4 OR GH3 and GH:M...

Another vote for Rock Band 2.

I don't know how people can still prefer the Guitar Hero series if they've played both.

Gentlemen, I really appreciate the honest opinions offered on this topic. I, myself have never played RB. I have always wanted too( especially a few songs off of the SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE album) I know a few family's that have RB, but as luck would have it...I still have not had the time to play....As I said at the beginning of this thread, I have most of the GH games, so I already have plenty of guitars. When I first heard of GH:WT, I got very excited, but here lately, I have not heard "any" news........and RB2 is all over the place! Either way, I believe that both games are well worth the money and I just can't wait till OCTOBER!!

BTW, my 360 gamer tag is XROD924

Thanks again,
Ruben

I was playing Guitar Hero 3 and 2 recently tried out Rock Band. RB blows the rest of them away. The songs are soooo much better. The gameplay is better. It also has tons more features. I don't see how you could go back to GH when you've played RB.

I'd say wait for more previews of both closer to release. It looks like RB2 is going to be pretty much more of the same as the first Rock Band with better online and some new features, whereas World Tour's gameplay is still kind of up in the air. The drum set looks to be potentially awesome in World Tour.

I'm sure GH will have the higher quality instruments, but RB is the much better game. I'm done with the GH series.

If GH4 delivers on their Music Editor , I think its the game to beat by far. However, it looks like it requires (or at least makes it a lot easier) with the GH instruments. I may just end up getting the GH4 w/ guitar and the RB2 set.

Yep. Never understood why a choice needed to be made on anything other than what instruments to roll with...

OP, make this a poll!

I vote GHIV. Music editor, better quality instruments. Easier to read notes. Then get the RB2 disc only.

But in the end it's the music. Wait till the songlist from GHIV comes out and make your decision on what songs you'd rather have.
