Following the Stanley Kubrick Archives (discussed here and being reissued in a lower-cost edition in October), Taschen just announced the next book in this series:

Up for preorder on Amazon for $126; $135 at Barnes & Noble (even less with one of the current coupons). I normally would wait on a cheaper edition, but if it's anything like the Kubrick volume, I'll be sitting on this until 2011... Might have to treat myself to a nice birthday present in October.

• Over 1000 scenes from the movies, shots of the director at work, film posters, and photos of Bergman's workbooks and scripts, with explanatory captions
• Rare and previously unseen images

Wow, I'm a big Bergman fan and this looks like it will be very good. Any idea how much text will be in this? I like the idea of the images, but I'd also like some informative essays. I thought those that have the Kubrick might be able to shed some light.
Also, thanks for mentioning the B&N coupon...I might have to go that route.

I sold my over-sized Kubrick Archives for $450 on Amazon Marketplace and plan to replace it with the slightly smaller second run for $44. I wonder whether they'll re-release this in a smaller, less-expensive second print as well.

Thanks for that link to the reissue of the Kubrick volume. A question for those that have it, does it have any info on unfilmed projects Kubrick was working on, like Napoleon or Aryan Papers? And what of his pre-Killer's Kiss films, are they included?

I've been tracking this one closely and just placed my order with B&N after much debate. I've been so tempted to sell my Kubrick set, but decided that I'm not in this to make a quick dollar, but to collect and enjoy these series once a year 
. I'm in for this one as well. It'll be a nice addition to my 'Books about Film' collection.

Nothing by John Simon either, hm...too bad. So I guess it's a book + dvd? Were the dvds to the Kubrick thing REALLY worth it?

I think I got on entirely too late with these collections... I dont wanna pay $400+ for Kubrick's book.. Does anyone wanna do some trading or something?

Can't part with mine or the Some Like It Hot book. Don't know if I will get the Bergman book or not. And wasn't there supposed to be a book completely dedicated to Kubrick's Napoleon?
