Very good pre-order sale @ Best Buy

Best Buy is running one of those buy 2 get $10.00 off sales. Well not only is the list good (all TV box sets) but the prices are not the usual shabby prices they have compared to Amazon. They are actually falling into line with other online vendors.

See this link for all the titles http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....at156200050012

I got Samantha Who & Grey's 4 for 49.98 + NYS tax AND they also allowed
me to check In-store pickup !!

I think this is a very big deal that Best Buy is allowing in store pickup on preordered items. They have never done this before. I hope this is a new policy and not just for this sale. Their shipping costs are usually a deal breaker for me.

It doesn't seem to be deducting $10 off me.

Any ideas?

They are pretty good deals but I am afraid they might have other deals and the prices might be cheaper as the release date comes and have certain "add-ons or collectables" if you buy it that opening week. Any advice or is it a gamble?

I don't think it's a gamble.

The Buena Vista titles (Desperate Housewives / Grey's Anatomy) have generally been at $29.99 the first week if I'm recalling correctly. I only remember that LOST: Season 1 had a Best Buy bonus disc.

On the $39.99 titles I would wait as you would gain another $5 off but on the $19.99 & 29.99 titles this seems to be a deal in our favor.

I'm still amazed that this season's TV-DVD sets are coming out at the SAME MSRP as previous seasons, despite the fact that most are a good 8-9 episodes shorter, which means we're getting ike 2/3 the content but paying the same price. What a rip!

Heroes: Season 2 definitely proves your point.

Too bad Pushing Daisies isn't included in this deal with the other ABC shows. I'd be ordering it already.

Good point on the lesser value DVDs Speedy! I'm gonna hold off on the Grey's and Brothers/Sisters but jump on Samantha Who

That's because these are all Disney (or related entities) shows, while Pushing Daisies is a WB show.

Lost Season 3 had a Bonus Disc at Walmart
Brothers and Sisters had a Bonus Disc at Target.

$41.99 is high, especially since we have fewer episodes. I think B&S was $34.99 last year and I paid $39.99 for the bonus disc set.

I am thinking if no bonus discs, I will just wait for a price drop a month or two after release. B&S seemed to drop quickly last year.

LOST II had a Best Buy Bonus disc (one of the recap episodes and a few extra deleted scenes.)

I suppose the fact that I haven't actually watched it yet proves just how vital those bonuses are...

You could order now with in store pick up. Then if there is a better deal during release week just don't pick the order up. You will be charged when they tell you your order is ready to be picked up but when you don't pick it up, Best Buy will credit your account. This is the way it works for in stock items. I assume this is how it will work for preorders. As you couldn't do preorder for in store pick up before, it is possible this will not work.

Its seems first year shows are cheaper due to fewer episode but older shows with a following are priced at the same price as full season sets. I am sure they think they will sell at that price. Don't forget Universal sold the short seasons of Northern Exposure and Quantum Leap for full sesaon prices.

Anyone heard if they are doing another one of those ABC TV show rebates this year--$10 off two shows, $30 off 3, $40 off 4 etc? Those have been great the past 2 years--especially since you didn't need to cut and mail things in--just enter codes online.

The discount is taken off in the row (Price / Total).

Mine shows it.

It should be a lot cheaper, it's only 11 episodes.

At least they did make it cheaper--many of the other shows are still full price.

And will still be taking up full shelf space when very few people buy them.

All of these are an extra % off right now since best buy is having a sale of 25% off all TV on DVD--looks like they took the % off the sale price and not retail--so may be worth the hassle of calling to cancel old orders and re-placing

Prices are currently the following, before extra $10 off for buying 2:
Desperate Housewives: Season Four [5 Discs] - DVD $37.49
Dirty Sexy Money: Season One (3 Disc) - DVD $26.24
Ugly Betty: Complete Second Season (5PC) - DVD $37.49
Eli Stone: Complete First Season [4 Discs] - Widescreen Subtitle - DVD $26.24
Brothers & Sisters: Complete Second Season (5 Disc) - DVD $37.49
Grey's Anatomy: Complete Fourth Season (5PC) - DVD $37.49
Private Practice: Complete First Season (3 Disc) - DVD $26.24
Samantha Who?: The Complete First Season [2 Discs] - DVD $18.74
