some nice finds at walgreens

walgreens pharmacies in my area just got a nice deal on some 2 disc sets for five bucks each, some were "cartoon network" dvds. those I found were "grim adventures of billy and mandy - complete season 1" and "ed, edd, and eddy - complete season 1, and complete season 2"
also for the same price were some 2 diskers from the "pop flix" label. one had the 1st 17 episodes of the lone ranger, also 6 charles bronson films including chino, and 6 sherlock holmes films which included 3 of them with basil rathbone.
there were others, but these stood out as the best of the lot to me.

I saw these at my walgreens as well. They had a cool John Wayne 20-movie collection (spread over four discs I believe) and the Cartoon Network sets you mentioned, all $4.99.

Thanks for the tip, OP. Picked up Grimm Adventures season 1, Ed, Edd and Eddie season 1 & 2 and the John Schneider title Collier and Co. Hot Pursuit(I heard it was pretty bad but I couldn't resist a movie featuring a Dodge Charger).

Also saw Grimm Adventures of Bill & Mandy Big Budget Adventure, Power Puff Girls the movie and a different Power Puff Girls dvd(not a season set). All pretty cool for $5 each.

Nope, not at all and a stark contrast to the other DVD's that they have for sale. $22.99 for many different, not very new releases.

One of the Walgreens I hit(they're on virtually every corner in town) had the tin collections(Best of Lucy, Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis, etc.)marked down from $9.99 to $4.93. Nothing too interesting for me, but a good deal if it's something you want.

not sure, I only picked up people vs larry flynt, which I have been wanting for some time now. I might go back and pick up a copy of Ray if they have anymore.

Cool

The also had "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy - Billy and Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure" but I didn't get that one. Maybe I'll go back... we'll see.

My Walgreens seems to be downsizing their DVD section. I did pick up the Powerpuff Girls Movie on DVD and I did see two Billy and Mandy DVDs. Too bad they didnt have Powerpuff Girls season 1 for $5.

Went to the Walgreens near me a day or so after I saw the first post. The section looked empty like after a big sale, and there was only some $9.99 DVDs in the slots. Went today, checked the section and there were many new DVDs with a couple sales. I picked up the only Billy and Mandy season 1 left for five bucks. Thanks op.

I was at Walgreens the other day, and they had all dvds 75% off. BIG YMMV though as 4 other stores I went to did not have it. Picked up The Tuxedo, The Good Girl and Out of Time for $3, $3 and $2 respectively.

Re: some nice finds at walgreens

they didn't seem to have anything worth mentioning a few months ago, but they seem to have gotten some of the MGM titles we have seen at big lots (Albeit a bit more, $3.99 or $5.99) like the 2 disc A Fish Called Wanda, Miracle Mile, etc...Saw an Elvis Costello in Concert DVD (In Memphis) for $5.99 as well. Also saw a staple of Big Lots a few Christmases ago, All Mine to Give. Oh, and saw Dog Day Afternoon 2 disc SE for $5.99.
Most interesting find was the Swamp Thing: the Series Vol. 2 which for some reason says on a sticker the first 26 episodes of season 3. (this is what it says on Amazon"The incredible adventures of the Swamp Thing continue with this 4-DVD set, containing the first 25 episodes of the series' 50-episode third season.) 50 shows in a season?? Don't think so!
But, whatever, a Shout factory DVD in a bargain bin is cool to me!

The Costello sounds interesting. My local WG stopped carrying dvd's, but i may check the next closest one which is larger.

Re: some nice finds at walgreens

I had to go into my local Walgreens today and noticed the DVD display. Not expecting much, other than the same as Big Lots, only a tad more expensive, I was pleasantly surprised to find Season 3 of Miami Vice for a ridiculous price of $3.99. Score!!

Re: some nice finds at walgreens

I happened into one this evening and was very surprised to find some classic WB titles - Boys Town, A Christmas Carol, Christmas in Connecticut -- all at $5.99 each.

Re: some nice finds at walgreens

skippysgarden , wow, a real score there!!!
dmkb, I saw the same titles at one Walgreens north of Atlanta, and Blossoms in the Dust (Greer Garson) Holiday Affair (Mitchum), and It Happened on 5th Avenue!
I was so excited! That was about it for the older titles...weird to be scoping out Walgreens, and weird how there can be 2 , 3-4 miles apart, and yet elsewhere none for miles. Hit one in Jonesboro Ga last night, and except for that same Swamp Thing set, nothing to get excited about. First store that had them neatly arranged in rows, every other store has them like a mini walmart pile o' films....

Re: some nice finds at walgreens

Half Price books has the Swamp Thing set also; the store nearest me has had several sealed copies in there clearance section for either $3 or $5 (don't remember which) for quite awhile.
