DVD Talk review of 'Gonzo: The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson'

I read the review for this film, and I think it is way off base. The film is very thorough in the departments which it chooses to investigate. It is very balanced and quite engaging. Sure it helps if you are a HST fan, but I think that viewing this film, anyone not previously interested in the man and the author could certainly appreciate the effect his reporting had on journalism and politics at its best. Not to mention the effect that journalism and politics had on him and his personal and professional career. There is a fairly distinguished and balanced palate of interviewees who all share their thoughts, both negative and positive, to a degree not before seen with HST docs. Yes it slips from the 70's to the 90's without much mention of what is between, but so did the man. I loved this film and was privileged enough to have seen it in March at AFI Dallas and was blown away.
