Later this year, no date yet...
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/12673
"This evening John Landis broke the news to Bloody-Disgusting that Universal Home Entertainment is planning to release his classic werewolf movie An American Werewolf in London on Blu-ray later this year! To top it off, he revealed that the Blu-ray release will also come with the brand new feature documentary BEWARE THE MOON: REMEMBERING AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON as an extra feature!! Directed by Paul Davis, twenty five years on, the original cast and crew look back on the John Landis classic in an hour and half documentary. More details forthcoming. MOON made its world premiere tonight at the HorrorHound Weekend in Pittsburgh."

Well, this was on HD DVD, so this isn't really huge news. The new documentary sounds pretty cool for the fans though.
BTW, the HD DVD did not get great reviews. Don't expect a revelation, but it should be a decent upgrade nonetheless.

The doc is apparently really really awsome. and Paul Davis is a good guy and one hell of an AWIL fan, so I can't wait to support this release.

Although I just picked up the HD version pretty cheap, I really want to see that new Doc.

I love the HD DVD release. It's a favorite film, and having the sd version on the flip side let's you readily see the improvment that HD brought. The bad reviews were typical at the time. For this fan it was a wonderful improvment. Still one of my favorite HDMs because it's one of my favorite films.

I hope so. I've been waiting to watch Paul's doc for a while now. I know he put A LOT of work into it, plus he's just a super cool guy. I love this flick so, naturally, I'll grab the BD up on day one.

I hope that date sticks. However, I'm wondering if it was originally planned to come out with the remake of The Wolf Man, since both properties are from Universal. The Wolf Man was supposed to be released in theaters in April, but has been pushed to November.
That would have been a good tie-in.

The HD DVD version is in the bargain bins in the supermarket for $3.99. I'll pick up a Blu-ray for the new doc and hopefully other new extras.

Uni is definitely releasing this alongside the new Wolfman flick, so I can tell you for sure it won't be coming out until Nov.

From blu-ray.com:
Universal Studios 'An American Werewolf in London' is being released on Blu-ray this summer. This is what John Landis told horror film site Bloody-Disgusting when they contacted Landis for his reaction on the upcoming remake of the famous 1980s horror movie. In Landis's own words, the negative has been digitally cleaned up and it looks "amazing."
Landis said: "My film comes out on Blu-ray this summer and looks amazing. I was afraid the digital cleaning of the negative would result in too clear a picture and hurt Rick Baker's make-up, when in fact the incredibly crisp detail actually makes Rick stuff look even better!"
B-D also asked Landis if there were any updates on a possible Blu-ray release of "Thriller" and he tells is that, "Despite Michael's tragic death, the Thriller lawsuit continues." Back in January, Landis had sued Michael Jackson, asking for unpaid profits for the "Thriller" video and making-of documentary.
