Mongol. How is it?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416044/
Its about the rise of Genghis Khan. I'm a sucker for big epic battle scene movies, and its playing at the Charles which is the big art house theater in baltimore city, and was thinking of checking it out. It has to be better then the Love Guru or Get Smart right?

86% at Rottentomatoes, which is a far sight better than the two you mentioned. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10006312-mongol/

Decent story, but a little short on action... Could have used a little more editing, just don't go see it at midnight after a long day at work.

I loved it. I'll reiterate that it is not an action flick, but more of a historical epic. It is a bit long, but I didn't think it dragged too much.

A bit long and slow if you're expecting a "Braveheart" type movie, but I liked it a lot. Gorgeous cinematography!

In my movie viewing experience, Tadanobu Asano (who plays the title role in this film), is always worth watching in a film.

opinion

I really liked the flick. FWIW, here are my thoughts:

1) Slow pacing (at least by typical US standards). I personally thought it was good for the flick, and I am used to watching some slower paced movies.

2) Not as much action as you would expect...I was chomping at the bit waiting for either individual fights/epic battles...The "waiting game" did have the effect of really emphasizing the violence when it happened tho...and I thought the fight scenes were well done.

3) I second the previous comments about the cinematography. Really worth seeing on a big screen.

In summary, I would definitely recommend seeing it, particularly on a big screen.

Agree w/ most of the above. I'd give it a B- or C+.
