Using phonograph with Onkyo HT receiver

I'm in the market for a new receiver mostly due to the outdated technology of my old reciever (no HDMI, limited digital inputs). I was interested in the Onkyo TX-SR606 but noticed it has no phonograph input. The Onkyo TX-SR705 does have phono inputs so it would seem the better option. I want advice in regards to using turntables with HT receivers or to know about problems and workarounds people have used so I'm not disappointed in my choice. Any receiver I've ever had in the past has taken a phono connection no problem. Parting with the turntable is NOT an option and yes I'm aware of CD's and MP3 players (maybe a vinyl fetish).

I find it very nice to have the input in the receiver. You can always get a phono preamp, but then it has to take up a different input. I personally need every input I can get.
