"Capote" vs "Infamous" for the Desert Island?

If you had to pick one of these films, which are very similar in nature, never to see the other ever again, which would you pick? Or which would you recommend to a friend who is curious about the Clutter murders?

I know there's also In Cold Blood with Robert Blake, but that stands alone, and has no bearing on the two films in question.

I personally thought Capote was the better movie, so it takes my vote.

Capote hands down. Better performances (Toby Jones is good everyone else bad in Infamous). Better screenplay. Better everything.

I remember seeing this in the theatre with a packed house and you could hear a pin drop during the climax. Such an excellent movie going experience. My favorite of the films I saw in 2005.

Oh, and should have absolutely snagged a Cinematography nomination at the Oscars.

Capote... however, if it really were for a Desert Island, no way in hell either of those movies would make my top 100.

I thought infamous, hands down, was the better film. I thought Toby Jones was amazing, and I usually love PSH. I thouhgt the filmmaking was better, and the way the story moved was more entertaining.

"Capote" and "Infamous" are "very similar" in the same way "The Longest Day" and "Saving Private Ryan" are very similar. They're about the same subject, but that's about it.

My vote is "Capote."

It's too bad the thread doesn't include a poll.

I've only seen Capote, but wow. Just wow. PSH was absolutely unbelievable. Exceptional film.

Re: "Capote" vs "Infamous" for the Desert Island?

My wife and I had recently rewatched Capote and decided to give Infamous a try. We gave up within 30 minutes as Toby Jones' portrayal of Capote's flaming affectations and tendencies and homo-innuendo completely distracted us from the story and was completely off-putting. Despite an otherwise very strong cast, we decided to give up on it and watch something else. If I was stuck on a desert island with this movie, I'd swim out into the water and let the sharks spare me.

Capote sucked and I don't recall Infamous at all. So, neither?

Agree. PSH might have turned in a slightly better performance, I felt that "Infamous" was far superior as a film.

I never thought I'd miss Buttmunker and his retarded-ass threads so much, but I do!
