Be Kind Rewind ---> 6/17/08

I hope I'm not the only one but I loved every minute of this movie and have been counting down until a DVD release. I haven't heard boo of any kind of special features or any news on the DVD. Did I miss anything or is this going to be a very barebones release.

Maybe a special edition coming out later?

This apparently has one short featurette about the town the film was filmed in.

It got such a limited release here.. it was only playing in one theater. I made sure I saw it opening weekend back in February, though.. I loved it. Mos Def and Danny Glover are great, and I despise Jack Black in everything he's in.. but he didn't act like Jack Black in this so it was a treat.

I plan on purchasing it as well.

DVDTalk review also says it includes the theatrical trailer and the movie is actually extended by about a minute, with a scene where Danny goes to a Fats festival.

Not really a festival, just hanging out with a small group of friends. In fact, it's exactly as described by Mr. Fletcher earlier in the film (and I'm paraphasing): "Just a few guys talking all night and playing Fats records".

I was actually hoping that the fullscreen version on the DVD would've been VHS quality, with tracking lines and everything.

I know there's deleted scenes.. I'm guessing they couldn't get the rights to some of the movies they ended up Swedeing though. Back to the Future comes to mind.

I think movies they couldn't license got the axe by legal during the pre-production stages. I don't think BKR could have afforded to shoot Swedeings they couldn't use.

It's too bad, I know I really wanted to see Back to the Future done.

I thought they would have as a special edition boxset or feature or something.

I'm almost positive they filmed Back to the Future. I believe it was a last-minute snafu from Universal that prevented them from including it in the final film.

Coming from Netflix today for me

I decided I'm just going to have to rent it over and over until they come out with a special edition.

Would this be a good blind buy? Jack Black, for me at least, is hit or miss...

No. It's a funny and sweet film, but not a film about two guys remaking a bunch of movies for the whole runtime. The film felt like three movie ideas wrapped into one.

Thank you...I was wondering if it would be worth a blind buy as well

The R2 has additional featurettes, including a half-hour making-of. One of the features is the same Passaic feature on the US DVD, so I am disappointed in that it sounds to me like, similar to the Science of Sleep DVD, Partizan produced these bonus features themselves and New Line simply opted not to put them on the disc. It double sucks cause even if they didn't put them on the DVD, they could have included them on the Blu-Ray.

Was surprised when I clicked "bonus" on the Blu-Ray, but that's cool.
