(YAIT) Question about Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

So I was watching this last night and enjoyed the little homage to Raiders with having the Arc on the wall under the library in Venice, but why was it there? What was the connection to the old knight? Why was it on the wall?

It is a religious artifact, and the wall was probably some sort of historical timeline documenting stories from the Old Testament.

Because it belongs in a museum.

It is there. Indy says, "The Ark of the Covenant". Lady says, "Are you sure?" to which Indy replies a bit sarcastically, "Pretty sure."

Just before that they are discussing that the Christians probably dug their own tunnels and burial chambers, so the wall markings would have been of Christian symbols.
