Different versions of movies that have never officially been released?

I'm wanting to know about different films that have alternate cuts that have never been officially released.

The biggest one in my mind is Halloween 6, a.k.a. "The Producer's Cut", which is pretty much a whole different movie (It still sucks, though). It has been floating around ever since the original version hit theaters back in 1995, so it's odd that Dimension never wanted to make money off that. It'd definitely sell a few copies.

Anyway, what are some other films such as that which have alternate cuts, but the studios never have taken the time to officially release them?

John Woo's Hard Target is one. (Comparisons w/ pics.)

And I don't know if they count since the footage is lost forever, but the original versions of Von Stroheim's Greed and Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons.

The Godfather Part 2...

both leap to mind... as the unofficial versions had very significant extra footage... it was trip the first time i saw Vito hunting them down in Sicily... that scene in the boats was particularly good...

Highlander 2
From IMDB:
On at least one occasion (06/17/06) another version was shown on TNT. This one differed mostly at the end. Connor takes Katanas head, destroying the shield. We hear Ramirez's voice over as Connor is still standing in the middle of the light ray, with Louise smiling back at him. The movie ends right there with Connor smiling back. The end credits feature a female singer as opposed to Lou Gramm's 'One Dream'.
This was how the PPV version ended too.

There's still a rumor about a Mandarin print of The Big Boss floating around which includes the famous head-chopping sequence in it's entirety. As well as Bruce Lee's explicit 2nd visit to a brothel.

Disney could make alot of extra cash just releasing the films they own from Miramax/Dimension that were edited up.

Halloween 6 and The Crow: City of Angels alone would sell great, because of the series fanbase.

It's really something they should consider.

Deep Blue Sea - The original ending
Spoiler:
had Saffron Burrows surviving instead of LL Cool J. But after a test screening, the ending changed to where she died and he lived.
I don't recall the original ending included in any dvd extras.

Caddyshack - my collection isn't complete until I get the 3 television cut scenes as added extras on some future version of the dvd.

You should spoilerize endings and significant plot points. Not everyone has seen every movie.

both Universal and the MPAA shared equal parts in slashing apart 'Hard Target' - I've seen the work print version and it's much more violent/bloody.

I'll Do Anything - had actual musical song and dance - all them removed for the theatrical version.

Naked Gun 33 1/3 had a bunch of added scenes in the broadcast version that aired once on ABC in the late 90s.

The newer Exorcist movie had two completely different versions with different directors and actors. I believe the version that didn't hit theaters eventually came out on DVD.

Hardy's original cut of The Wicker Man (1973) is gone for good, but the extended cut available on DVD is fairly close (apparently).

I think all that's missing is a scene of Lee talking about apples.

Didn't Ferris Bueller's Day Off have a scene of Sloane undressing in front of Cameron in the cable version?

Billy Madison: The TV cut with kickball scene.
GIGLI: With radically different 3rd act/ending.

I remember reading that Warners wasn't pleased at all with Schrader's cut, to redo the film with another director, actors and storyline was their solution - ironically neither film did very well at the box office or from the critics. Schraders cut saw a very brief theatrical run in NYC, after Renny Harlin's version underperformed at the theatres.

Dust Devil - was substantially altered for it's US theatrical release. The eventual director's cut on home video feels and looks completely different.

likewise the expanded director's cut of Lawnmower Man with the inclusion of 39 minutes of additional footage felt essential to the overall film.

Needful Things. DIdnt TNT or TBS run like a 4 hour version of this (3 hours without commercials) that had an hour of additional material in it.?
I would love to have this on DVD.
