AN EMPRESS AND THE WARRIORS is available on Hong Kong DVD. It's anamorphic, DD 5.1/DTS, NTSC All-Region, and English subtitles.

Despite what critics say, it's actually a good movie for its genre. Donnie Yen acts normal and isn't bad as in his usual films, Kelly Chen is an underrated actress and she's believable as a conflicted princess, and Leon Lai is pretty good too - For a Tony Ching Siu Tung movie, one of my favorite style-over-substance action directors, he's actually chosen to be substance-over-style in this flick. It's as if he's trying be a little more like Yimou Zhang. This anti-war movie was totally entertaining, touching, and well-balanced. The action was consistently good in the film as well. The only negatives in the film were a few contemporary Hong Kong songs played during the romance scenes - they seemed out of place.

By the way, I hated Jet Li's THE WARLORDS - a totally boring sleepfest. I think AN EMPRESS AND THE WARRIORS is a much better film.
