Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains: 9/30/08
From Rhino, with commentary track(s) from Lou Adler, Laura Dern and Diane Lane. This post is from HTF:
"GREAT NEWS!
I think this is the first place I'm reporting this, but...
SEPTEMBER 30th, 2008
RHINO ENTERTAINMENT
The DVD is for REAL!
I had a conference call with the fine people at Rhino this week and I just watched a screener of the AMAZING transfer they've done. Lou Adler recorded a commentary track already and I think Diane Lane does one next week.
This is for real. It's really happening. I will be updating fabulousstains.com with a redesign in the next couple of days.
The wait is over. Phew."

USA Today article:
"Please welcome 'The Fabulous Stains' to DVD. Long a cult favorite of punk and rock aficionados, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains will finally surface on DVD. The 1981 film, shelved after a brief theatrical run, arrives Sept. 16 to inaugurate Rhino's Rock 'n' Roll Cinema series.
Starring 16-year-old Diane Lane as a riot grrl prototype, Stains also stars Laura Dern, Ray Winstone and Christine Lahti. Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols, Clash bassist Paul Simonon, Fee Waybill of The Tubes and punk hero Black Randy also pop up in the movie, directed by music mogul Lou Adler. Lane, rocking a skunk coif, belts A Waste of Time as female fans chant "We don't put out!" Stains inspired rockers from L7 and Bikini Kill to Courtney Love as it found an afterlife on bootlegs, cable and the art-house film circuit."

Curious to see which other titles will be released under the 'Rock and Roll Cinema' banner. Watch a Stains doc here.

Thanks for posting the link. Nice doc. Yep, I was one of those people that caught it on late night TV. I was into The Clash at the time, so I loved the movie and crushed on Diane Lane.
I've never really seen a quality presentation of this movie...so that's why I'm very excited to finally see this on DVD.

DVD Talk review. Apparently the transfer is below par, and the reviewer didn't think much of the film itself, but I still plan on picking this up. A question - I noticed this message at the bottom of the review:
May I ask why?

I read an article about this in Spin the other day. I'll definitely check it out.
