alright, here's the concept, when ever you hear a song by a certain band on the radio, you can automatically tell its them.
for me
pantera
slayer
korn
tool
note, this isn't meant to be a 'artists where all the songs sound the same' type thread

For my tastes, there aren't too many bands out there with really, truly distinctive sounds...not just the lead singer, but the band itself. The best band for this example was definitely Queen. Boston, as someone listed, was another good example. Tom Scholl's guitar work, like Brian May's, was totally unique for their sound.
To skip genres altogether, I always thought The Time had a pretty distinct sound. There was no mistaking that when you heard it played.

El P does have a very distinct sound.
Cake is a correct answer. My answer is Cocteau Twins, which is the same answer I gave last time we had a thread like this.
So, I'll add Placebo but that is largely due to Brian Molko's voice.

Hell, there were no mainstream bands switching between screaming and melodic singing until after Pantera was huge.
Now I don't listen to any rap. So to me it would all sound the same, but to a serious rap fan they could point out all the differences between artists.
