Rambo, the animated series

was surprised to find that the 1980s rambo animated series is available on dvd, and at a bargain price no less. all 65 episodes are available as seperate 1 diskers with 11 episodes on each disc. amazon has them for 9.98 each. so, for around 60 bucks you get all 65 half hour episodes.

There was a Rambo cartoon? Is John still a damaged vet looking to inflict some payback on foreigners and National Guardsmen?

no, rambo is now part of a rengade government group called the forces of freedom, kind of like a government a-team, that works to defend the world of enemies of peace. for those who have never seen the animated series, it is written by david morell who wrote the orginal book 1st blood. while the animated series is nowhere as bloody as the rambo films, it does have its share of violent action. the show however was targeted by watchdog groups that had a problem with an emotionally scarred vietnam vet being a cartoon action hero, and it was cancelled after 1 season of 65 episodes.

I got volume one free from Columbia House a while back. It's a pretty entertaining show. Kind of a mix of G.I. Joe and Chuck Norris & his Karate Commandos
