"Mummy" & "Mummy Returns" Deluxe Editions coming 7/8

Universal will release 2-disc Deluxe Editions of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns on July 8. Extras appear to be more or less the same as the Ultimate Edition of the first movie and the Collector's Edition of the second, but both will also include new features, among them, of course, a preview of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. And, standard issue these days, digital copies.

Full details, artwork, and menus available at DVDActive.

Just a head's up, Papa Johns has an on-box coupon for the Mummy and Mummy Returns ($3 off one, $5 off both).

That's stupid. I just tried too and the website doesn't exist yet. I hate these tickets you have to redeem in order to use. Warner hasn't gone that route yet, got Batman Begins today and they still had the regular Movie Cash in there.

I picked them up yesterday at FYE early and noticed the coupon said that it will only work from 8-1 to 8-24. Seems stupid to me but as long as its free, ill just get them on that date.

Price may not be as cheap as the opening 5 days. I got 'em today at Wally World $15 each (for 2 discers each with movie cash). $30 minus my brother's 10% employee discount minus $5 papajohn coupon with the movie cash made this a complete no brainer. The clincher was the dvdtalk reviews (dvdtalk collector series for the original 2 highly recommended for the sequel). The picture has been remastered & is visibly better. Old 2 disc Collector's edition is now on ebay. Damn, I'm a compulsive double dipper.

I don't believe so. Picked it up at Walmart and looked at the back specs, only saw dolby digital 5.1. Glad I kept my Deluxe Edition!

For the first movie, aside from the dropping off of the DTS track.

Were the extras ported and are there additional stuff? The reviews don't seem to compare to the older releases.

For the second movie, same question.

Are transfers for the new release better than the previous releases?

Re: Extras - I believe all the extras have been ported over (for both), including the commentaries that appeared on the Ultimate Edition of The Mummy (Fraser commentary, etc).

Don't know about the transfers, though.
