Produced by Los Angeles-based Live Nation, Crue Fest '08 will also feature rock acts Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Crue bassist Nikki Sixx's side band Sixx:A.M. The jaunt will support Motley Crue's forthcoming album "Saints of Los Angeles," due June 17 via Motley Records, the band revealed today (April 15) at a press conference in Los Angeles.
For those in a rush, tickets for Crue Fest '08 will go on sale immediately through TheRockvine.com. Beyond today, ducats will be available in select cities via LiveNation.com beginning Friday (April 18). Through Live Nation's deal with Citi, the company's card members can purchase pre-sale tickets today through Friday via privatepass.citi.com.
Partners for Crue Fest '08 include JVC Mobile Audio, MTV's "Rock Band," Best Buy, Fuse TV, Lotus and TheRockvine.com. "Rock Band" will sponsor an area at each tour stop where concertgoers can play the game. In addition, a Crue Fest '08 sampler, featuring tracks from each band on the tour, will be available exclusively at Best Buy beginning June 17.
Motley Crue's most recent tour in 2005/2006 grossed $46.3 million and drew more than 960,000 people to 125 concerts, according to Billboard Boxscore.
Giving fans a brief taste of its upcoming album and tour, members of Motley Crue -- Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee -- performed the title track of "Saints of Los Angeles" at today's press conference. The track features backing vocals from members of Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Sixx:A.M., and is reminiscent of Motley Crue's hair metal roots.
The single and accompanying video were released today to television and radio, and the track is currently available for purchase on iTunes and through the wildly popular "Rock Band" video game.
"Saints of Los Angeles" is Motley Crue's first studio album since 2000's "New Tattoo," which has sold 203,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band's last studio effort with all of its original members was 1997's "Generation Swine," which debuted and peaked at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, and has sold 306,000 units.

Heard the new song live on Jimmy Kimmell. It kicks ass. It got their 80s sound to it. Vince sounds awesome.
I thought the last time he performed on there he sounded weak.

Their first single "Saints of Los Angeles" was made available for download on the game "Rock Band" yesterday for XBox 360 and Thursday for the PS3. This is the first band to debut a song through this platform that I'm aware of, so mad props to The Crue.
That's the first place that I heard it, and I think it's a pretty bitchin' song. I'll have to check out the whole album when it comes out.

Well, the new single's pretty good. It's got the classic Crue style, and it's as good as many of their songs from the 80's, so that's a good sign.
Will the album be better than New Tattoo, that's the real question. That was an attempted comeback to the clasic Crue sound, but the album was pretty mediocre with just a couple great songs. This one's got to be better or it's pretty much the end of the Crue as a viable (significant) commercial group when it comes to new albums.

Funny, I don't own any Motley albums (downloaded Red, White, and Crue) but I've shelled out for pit tickets to Crue Fest and actually like Saints of Los Angeles. Smart move to put the Crue Fest lead singers on back up vocals IMO. My guess is SOLA will close the first set with all the lead singers coming out to help and then Crue will do an encore of a couple classics.
