2 more till 1,000...what should the milestone be?

so i go by DVD Profiler's count of my collected DVD's and it says i'm at 998 DVD's in my collection. i love to make certain DVD's milestones, i had something good at #500 but i must have deleted something and re#'d from there.

anyway, 1,000 is 2 DVD's away and i really want to make it special. i don't know what it should be.
any suggestions???? this is so exciting!

If you have not got HD - then I would make it my first BluRay - From there you could choose a personal fave or one of the "reference" quality releases that are being currently praised.

See, because it has 1,000 in the title...that's clever!

If you're going by DVD Profiler logic, you've probably already surpassed the 1,000 mark quite awhile back. Counting box sets with multiple titles as one is just plain wrong.

EDIT: NM, I see you have individual titles broken down and listed separately. That's sticking it to 'em!

To follow up on jerrykill and chad's theme, I did a search on Amazon for "1000" in the title. The most unusual one was. . . "1000 Sing'n Slugs."
The description: "DreamWorks & Aardman's 1000 sing'n slugs: Music, Games, Activities, Hours of Interactive Fun. Slug Songs, Virtual Slug, Slug Tones, Save the Slugs, Build-a-slug, Slug-a-thon, Slug Cam and slug singers. NR. English Stereo. 8 min. running time. 2007."
That would be a memorable purchase. (Put your favorite smilie here.)

I wish I had paid attention to what my 1000th dvd was. I like knowing that stuff. I know number 2000 was She-Devils on Wheels. Only 198 more to go and I'll be at 3000. Wonder what it'll be.

Make 999 the movie "Saw 2", which had the tagline of "Oh yes, THERE WILL BE BLOOD.".

Then, make 1,000 the movie "THERE WILL BE BLOOD."

...and I'm guessing capitalization is no longer a requirement for school instructors.

This. I'm surprised by how someone with nearly 1000 DVDs wouldn't have a single silent film.

I'd go with Nosferatu (preferably the R2 MoC release), Metropolis (R2 MoC), or The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (R1 Kino). Can't go wrong with comedy... like checking out the R2 MoC of Buster Keaton shorts, the R1 double feature of The General and Sherlock Jr., Modern Times (R2 doesn't have ghosting like the R1), or New Line's Harold Lloyd box set.

Yeah, get something on BD, even if it sits and taunts you for a while.

Speaking of milestones, my 100th HD title was No Country for Old Men.

I like the Saw II idea and your first Blu-Ray for #1000, but if you can find it, try this one for #999:

999 Feelin Alright with the Crew - It came out in 2004, and it looks like music dvd. I know absolutely nothing about this dvd or the band, but it would be cool to have it as #999 of a collection. They were a punk band back in the late 70's and 80's. It got a 3/5 rating in DVD Profiler. Check the DVD Profiler Database to read the back cover. If you don't have any music dvd's, then that might be a cool first one also.

I just checked Amazon, so it is still available, here's a link:

[999 Feelin Alright Crew]

If you have a favorite movie, one that you can watch over and over, and it is available on Blu-ray already, then I'd definately get that one as #1000; then when you finally go blu, that could be the first one you watch.

You should also post what you finally decide because now you got me all curious. I might have to do the same when I reach that magical #. I also just checked my collection, and I reached 700 a few weeks ago. #700 for me was I Am Legend Steelbook, although I sort them alphabetically in DVD Profiler.

I have that one! I think it came packaged with the movie, and if I'm not mistaken it was a Wal-Mart Exclusive. It's not in the DVD Profiler Database yet. I guess I could contribute this one to DVD Profiler later. It's mainly a kids interactive dvd, but if you can find it, and you have the movie already, it would be kind of cool to have it as #1000. I don't know how much play time it'll get, but them slugs are pretty hilarious.

How about celebrating by getting a DVD autographed, if there's a con around you.

I concurr about geting into silent films.

Or celebrate with class, get a rare and or a more desirable Criterion.
