This is Chow's first work that I didn't like in quite some time. Probably since Royal Tramp. Very very slow & minimal comedic payoff. Probably worth the money for this or a region 0 type release. But not the eventual Blu-Ray or R1.

I already ordered it from hkflix. :/ It looks like the edition from HKflix is from a thai distributor too - perhaps the same disc, but it's still showing as pre-order with no date. Bleh.

Thai Pal sounds like food.
I've heard mixed things, but it could be enjoyable and I may give it benefit of a doubt. I didn't care for Kung Fu Hustle, which critics and fans seemed to love, so we'll see.

Well, you know there will very soon be a super duper special edition for us to all double dip on. Chow only does a movie every 3 years now instead of 3 per year like he used to, so I guess they've gotta milk it.

There's a PAL R6 from China out now that sensasian carries for $8.99:

As for the movie itself, I saw it in theaters in New York. It's definitely a lesser effort by him, not as good as his last two films. It's also somewhat light on wild and crazy special effects sequences. Still, I found it humorous and entertaining, although I'll probably wait for the eventual R1 release.
