I was hoping 21 would get better reviews. I didn't see it but from what I hear they didn't stay very true to the book. If they had they might have had a better movie. I'm a big enough fan of the book that I'll give it a rental down the road.

Agreed. But we may be getting better movies starting as early as next week. I haven't heard any advance word on it but Leatherheads could be a good, fun movie. I'm also looking forward to Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Harold and Kumar in late April. Any word on how 88 Minutes is supposed to be?

It's not.. Pegg is just starring in it. He's a versatile actor.. this isn't being billed as a "From the Guys Who Brough You Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz" movie.. just "Simon Pegg in.."

I think it looks funny.. but it's not one of his movies.

March used to be a decent month for movies, but it looks like January dumping ground. The first Matrix opened at the end of March and Dawn of the Dead '04 was in mid March.

Except Curtin Hanson's "Lucky You", which sat on the shelf for quite a while before being dumped last year. 21 looks more like a "young/hip" shitty version of the Ocean's films as opposed to Rounders.

Huh!? The guy asked if it's that bad. You first say "It's not". Then "I think it looks funny". Well, I've seen it, and it's not funny. It's more of a romantic comedy. A very very average one at that. And it IS being compared to "Shaun". The studio decided to put "It's 'Shaun of the Dead' meets 'Wedding Crashers'" from some critic on top of the print ad. So they most certainly are trying to cash in on "Shaun".

Well I said that I was expecting a good movie from the guys that made Shaun and Hot Fuzz. However, as mcfly pointed out it is not from the guys that made those movies, it is just starring Simon Pegg.

I guess I assumed it was from the same guys because of the actor starring in it and because they mention Shaun of the Dead when talking about Fatboy.

"Fat Boy" is also directed by David Schwimmer.

I'm not sure if it "bombed." It only opened in around 1000 screens with minimal marketing and no real mainstream stars (Pegg has his audience, but it's not for a relationship movie). It's also made around 25mil overseas, so I'd say it's doing ok comparatively.

LOL, I never shit talked the movie. "It's not" was in reference to the one poster commenting on it being like Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.

And it isn't. I seriously doubt when this movie was marketed overseas they compared it to Wedding Crashers, regardless of what it says in the states.

It's a film shot in the UK starring Simon Pegg. Not a romp by the "Guys Who Brought You Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz". You can blatantly tell that from the commercials and the trailer.. it looks nothing like either of those. This is being marketed as a romantic comedy directed by David Schwimmer.

Run Fatboy Run was middling - it wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special.

I do want to see The Bank Job and Doomsday still, and will likely watch Horton Hears a Who when it's on video (from the clips I've seen, it looks enjoyable (I'm an animation fan)). So not an all out terrible top 10, 2 watchable movies for me, I've seen worse. I'm sure I'll check out Drillbit Taylor and 21 at some point as well.

10,000 BC is currently in my top 10 for worst movies (seen theatrically) of the decade (alongside Van Helsing, The One, Highlander: End Game, AVP:R, and Hollowman)

I haven't seen a movie in theaters since Be Kind Rewind but I have passed for Smart People and Street Kings so those will prob be next. Nothing looks that good to me in the theaters.
