I got my 2-Disc edition in a Pie Tin with a pie-top cover. The DVD sat inside the tin on a bed of shredded red paper to resemble a meat pie. All in all it looks quite awesome

Mike

PS- I am a DVD reviewer. It was only sent to the press.

Here's what I found so far..

"- Best Buy: Free movie ticket to “The Ruins” when you purchase Sweeney Todd.

- Suncoast / FYE: Exclusive Limited edition steel book packaging.

- Costco: Exclusive “Sweeney Todd Fleet Street Giftset” which includes the 2 Disc Special Edition DVD and the lavish, hardcover official companion book. With a forward by Tim Burton, the book includes over 200 photos, concept drawings and production designs, extracts from the screenplay and interviews with the cast including Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

- Borders: Packed with every DVD is the abridged version of the official Sweeney Todd Companion book which has really cool behind the scenes shots from the film and more."

Im going to perorder my copy from Costco this week, the book looks awesome.
Heres a link to the book which will be included in the Costco exculsive

Anyone know how rare the Sweeney steelbook will be? I most likely won't be able to pick one up until the second week of May when I come back home from college, unless I can buy online or find a way to acquire one without going.

For the most part they are very rare, especially the Suncoast/FYE ones. I know that when I went to get my Beowulf steelbook I got the last one despite the fact that I went on the release day.

Does it vary by store? I saw somewhere (and I forget, but I can look) that someone said they went to a FYE a couple of days ago and they had about 50 of the Beowulf steelbooks in stock. And that's weeks after it's release. I guess I need to start making some calls home to get this next week.

The manager at my fye said that sweeney todd would be more rare like transformers. I don't know if that's true or not. I bought beowulf on the saturday of it's release week. I bought the last copy in stock. When I went there yesterday, I counted about 50 in the same store in 3 different areas. They had about 10 in the front of the store, another 10 where the new releases are on the side of the shelves, and about 30 towards the back of the store at the end of a shelf. The one in the back took up the whole shelf. So they must have received another shipment. I thought beowulf was limited so I asked the manager about it. That's when he told me about sweeney todd. He said cloverfield would not be as limited but I pre-ordered it anyway.

How do I preorder a Steelbook from FYE? Just say it to the cashier? Never tried doing it before. Always get my DVDs from either Target or BB.

The Borders exclusive is a shortened version of the book.
Also I believe the Sweeney Giftset at Costco is 21.99 plus tax..

If I wasn't a sucker for steelbooks, the costco set would be mine. I'll probably end up buying the book someday down the road.

I'll wait for the hi-def release -- they'll surely release one, right?!

The steelbooks (and any FYE/Suncoast exclusives for that matter) are generally pretty limited runs. Most stores do not get more copies than they receive during release week, so you don't want to put off a purchase too long. While some larger, higher-volume stores may receive several copies, most stores will probably get 10 copies or less.

The steelbook will be the 2-disc edition, right? I love steelbooks, but want to make sure I can get the most content as well!

Yes, the steelbook is the 2-disc version.
