High Noon 2 Disc ultimate Collector's Edition ---> June 10th
Some of the bonus features seem to be carry-overs from the current release, but there looks to be enough new material that might make this new version worth picking up - I know I will:

High Noon (1952) - 2 - Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition in June
Lionsgate has announced a June 10th release date for High Noon (1952) - Ultimate Collector's Edition. The 2 Disc DVD set will retail for $19.98.
No word on restoration, but the bonus features on this Ultimate Collector's Edition don't look too different than 2002's single disc release. The additional bonus feature is a “Behind High Noon” featurette. And unlike the previous release, this set does include English and Spanish subtitles. Details below.
(NOTE: new features seem to be the 50 min. doc "Inside High Noon", the Tex ritter portrait piece and the Tex ritter performance - "The Making of High Noon", "Behind High Noon", the commentary and the radio broadcast are from the current release -- Dr. G.)
In the greatest showdown in the history of cinema, lawman Will Kane (Gary Cooper) stands to lose not only the town but his new wife (Grace Kelly). On the day he gets married and hangs up his badge, Kane is told that a man he sent to prison years before, Frank Miller, is returning on the noon train to exact his revenge. Having initially decided to leave with his new spouse, Kane realizes he must go back and face Miller. However, when he seeks the help of the townspeople he has protected for so long, they turn their backs on him. Now, Kane must stand alone in his fight for justice.

Lionsgate seems to do a good job, so I'll pick this up sooner or later.
Ridiculous that such a well loved classic as this is getting its first decent digital incarnation only in 2008.
Hopefully special editions of The Quiet Man, Rio Grande, The Pawnbroker, The Bells of St. Mary, Force of Evil, Orson Welles' Macbeth, The Sands of Iwo Jima, Pursued, Champion, The Dark Mirror, and Johnny Guitar aren't too far off.
And anything else Republic that I missed.

This disc will feature the newly restored print, courtesy of Paramount, which apparently looks beautiful.
I just hope this means Lionsgate actually starts releasing all the Republic classics they've got the rights to. They've been sitting on a lot of great films for a long time.

our local; wal mart had this out three weeks ago, so I retired my old version and got this new edition - much better picture quality and the bonus material is great stuff - get it!
