What does the title "Good Will Hunting" mean to you?
in the context of the movie of course.
I posed this interpretive mini-essay question to my Psychology classes after we watched it and was wondering what you all took the title to mean and if there is an answer put forth by Matt Damon or Ben Affleck at some point. Thanks for help.

When he isn't yelling and cussing, he can be pretty good.

You could look at it as Good Will Hunting, trying to be good. Or maybe it's Good Will Hunting, where he's hunting to find himself. Or maybe it's Goodwill Hunting, where he's trying to find stuff at the Goodwill. I doubt it's that last one.

I started watching it and when I saw that Minnie Driver was the love interest in the film I had to gag then turn it off. I've tried to watch it many times but there's just too much pretentiousness in the dialogue (ie. Owning the douche at the cafe, all of Driver's lines, the long monologue Damon give at the end) At least Matt Damon turned out to be a pretty cool actor.

No question that no film is loved by all but it's not like Good Will Hunting was as bad as lets say... Home Alone 3.
I'm with Nick on this, I just don't get the extreme negativity.
I personally thought it was one of the best films that year.
