Indiana Jones Trilogy Special Edition ----> 5/13/08

Tvshowsondvd.com is reporting that Paramount will release special editions of the Indiana Jones trilogy on May 13th. No word as to high definition releases of the film.

Aaaargh...what could be so "special" about them at this point in time if not in HD?! They are of course just trying to milk another edition out of people just in time for the new movie.

Maybe this will have the version of Raiders of the Lost Ark with the Ewoks added in.

Probably just include some Behind the Scenes and trailer of the new movie and maybe Movie Money to go see it.

Wonder if its another box set, or individual releases this time.

These are Spielberg's movies, and what do we know about movies Spielberg directed in relation to HD?

I believe that the swordsman shoots first in this version.

Exactly. I would expect a Blu-Ray announcement also. I figured that I would eventually double-dip on this in the high-def anyways, so why not now...

...Or wait until the super-deluxe box set with the new movie and a real pet snake as an extra.

These look like just single releases of the movies already in the boxed set...although I suppose Paramount could slap on an INDY IV trailer or some INDY IV BTS footage to make the editions appealing. Far as I know, though, these are the same transfers of the movie that were on the DVDs that are already out.

Where are you getting your info from? So far all the information I can find is the release date. Do you have another source?

At this point, it doesn't make any sense to buy the trilogy when there's going to be a 4-set when Skull comes to dvd later this year.

IIRC, and I don't remember where I heard this from, but Paramount is waiting until Indy IV gets a home release before making the other ones HD, and will release all 4 movies at the same time on HD.

I'd be surprised if these came in Blu this soon. Speculating here, but this sorta reminds me of 2000's VHS release of the original Star Wars trilogy. Let's milk it one more time . . .

Likewise. I knew that there would be a new box set for all four movies, but I was able to get it cheap, and I didn't want to take the chance of the extras on the bonus disc not being ported over, the completist that I am.

I could see these SEs being packaged with the featurettes from the bonus disc, maybe a couple new items, and certainly some relating to the new movie. Then, they'll be packaged in a box set with The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull when it's released.

There are TWO things i would want changed in the original films. The title of Temple of Doom should be OVER KateCapshaw and NOT behind her. And fix the tail of the plane when Jones Sr. shoots the tail in Last Crusade. I always hated that its fixed in the other shots when the show the whole plane. FIX em and ill buy it!

We all know Spielberg's not going to record a commentary, and these'll be rereleased in another year with IJ&TKotCS.

So, pass.

It took forever for these movies and Star Wars to come out on DVD. I have no reason to think it will be any different with Blu-ray.
