can you use an xbox 360 controller for the PC VERSION of call of duty 4?

Just a quick question. I got it for the pc but hate using the keyboard and mouse. Is it possible to use a wired XBOX 360 controller?

Weird. Why not get it for the PS3?

Not sure if the wired one will work, but wireless should with this:

I guess it would also depend on if its compatible with the pc game too. I don't really play on pc anymore so i don't know.

Ah, ok. I just found it strange to buy a FPS on a PC if you can't stand the K/M combo when you have a PS3

I would imagine it would work, but can't say for sure. Surely there's a mapping for that.

The wired one is still just USB, right? Does that not work out of the box?

I got my PC to see the controller, I just don't see any options in the game to use a controller.

It's not a Games For Windows game, so it shouldn't have any option to do it automatically. You may have to configure it.

I have no idea why you'd want to though. I know I'm gonna sound fanboyish, but Keyboard + Mouse is the best control scheme there is!

I was coming in to this thread to say the exact same thing.

Same here, I wouldn't want to go into a PC multiplayer match using a controller, you will get slaughtered.

But I would think you should be able to configure the controller in any way you want.

Just curious though, is it the mouse and keyboard you hate or just the keyboard? I don't really like the keyboard either, often the button layout is too complicated, with buttons too spread out. I use the N52 speedpad, which is like a mini-keyboard, and it has a much simpler and accessible button layout (with a dpad, jump button, etc.), plus you can program any key/macro combination you want.

I have both a wired 360 controller and the game on PC. I'll give it a shot when I get home from work.

I'm fine with the mouse, its the keyboard I have a problem with. I can never hit the right keys while looking at the screen.

I was successful in using the XBOX controller. I had to download a program called "Pinnacle Game Profiler" which tricks the game into thinking your using the mouse when your actually using a controller. It worked well, but with that said.....as many of you have pointed out, I got my ass kicked horribly. I'm sure it's much easier to aim using a mouse. i wish i could get the keyboard down! i appreciate everyone's help though.

Check out the N52 speedpad, I had that exact same problem with keyboards.
