Barnes and Noble 50% HD-DVD sale
Quick look at what they have on sale pretty much mirrors Amazons sale, BUT.. if you happen to have access to any of the current 25% off coupons in your email it make the price pretty good

I've been steadily getting rid of my HD DVDs for the last few weeks.
So why do I suddenly feel compelled to get in on this sale and pick up HD DVDs of Cat People and Shaun of the Dead?
What's wrong with me?...

Yeah, I figure a BOGO sale would be around $10. The only time these titles are going to go below a BOGO price, is during the last days of HD DVDs being on the market--and this is anyone's guess but probably a year from now at minimum. And then it's going to be crazy, because everyone will be buying them--a few guys will be maxing their $25,000 limit credit cards for eBay--and you may not get the titles you want. And then you will be fucked.

I just ordered an HD DVD and it says expected ship date Feb 13. Does it usually take 5 days to ship out, or can I expect it sooner? I dont mind waiting for these great prices, I'm just curious.
Anyone ever order from BandN.com before? How is their shipping speed/service?

It's a decent sale especially with the coupons. I wanted to get Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but it must be sold out because it's no longer on the list. Still $14.95 at Amazon though. So far I've ordered Dawn of the Dead, Elizabeth and the Last Starfighter and may get more. It's irritating the Combo discs are still higher priced even though they don't really constitute extra value.

With a few rare exceptions, like Dazed and Confused, the combos are "new releases". And all new releases carry a higher price tag, whether it's a Blu-Ray, HD DVD combo, or HD DVD non-combo. The fact that they are combos are incidental to the fact they are priced as new releases. The only studios that don't charge a premium for new releases in relation to their catalog titles are Disney and Fox, but those studios charge more for catalog titles than the rest of them do so they're getting their money anyways.

B&N has added a few titles since I looked the first time earlier this week. There are now 97 titles included in this sale, up from 90 a few days ago, although I couldn't tell you which ones are new.

Okay, someone needs to school me on the order one applies the various discounts.
Visa clickthru first, then log in to the B&N Member account, then select Visa on the order confirmation page, then enter the 25% code, and I'm not getting the Visa discount.
19.93 movie (American Werewolf in London)
-2.00 member discount (10%)
-4.99 coupon (25%)
+0.78 tax
=====
$13.72
There should be another dollar off for Visa, right?

I think you get reimbursed separately and at a later time. Not sure, though, but I wasn't credited automatically.

Just got Eternal Sunshine for $10.29 shipped! Great deal... Thanks for the Visa link. Even though I can't get the discount, it's nice to get free shipping without needing to spend $25+. Someone said Eternal Sunshine was removed from the list. I don't know if it was, but it is definitely there now.
