Best Picture Nominations

I know that there are posts discussing some of these individually but i thought maybe we should combine it for these 5.

In my opinion the best are in this order (although i didn't see Atonement)

1. No Country For Old Men
2. There Will Be Blood
3. Michael Clayton
4. Juno

There is no Question: THERE WILL BE BLOOD

1. THERE WILL BE BLOOD (A+)
2. No Country For Old Men (B+)
3. Juno (B-)
4. Michael Clayton (C-)
Still very much want to see Atonement

I think TWBB has all the momentum. I also think it is the kind of movie that the voters like. It's an epic movie that does many things right. I think No Country is the better movie.

This is a two-pony race. But There Will Be Blood has a little extra something that No Country doesn't. Don't get me wrong, No Country is GREAT. But Blood really has the feel of an all-timer.

If you go to the TWBB thread you'll see a lot of "Fantastic! But I like NCFOM more."

It happens. I think it will split the voters, which could mean a 3rd could ultimately be victorious. But I think No Country has all the momentum going in.

It would be a crime if Daniel Day-Lewis doesn't win Best Actor. It would be an equal crime if TWBB wins Best Picture.

Replace Daniel Day-Lewis with anybody else on the planet, and that movie is an abortion. He is just that good to carry it on his own.

No Country For Old Men has to be the winner here.

I'd have to disagree with that, it's an amazing performance, with fantastic writing, directing, and scoring. It'd still be a great movie without him (as the direction, writing, and scoring would still be fantastic), it just happens to be amazing with him. Ah well, I've got too much free time today.

I realize that release dates have little bearing on the voters because of their screeners but with TWBB's late release date I feel all the ads are stuck in the voters heads. However, NCOM has been cleaning up at the awards shows.

1. There Will Be Blood
2. Atonement (yeah, i loved it)
3. No Country
4. Juno (I wouldn't even consider this for a Best Picture movie personally. It was pretty good, but not on par with the other contenders... or Zodiac, or Eastern Promises, or Once, or.... )

Didn't see Michael Clayton yet, but can't wait too!

I think There Will be Blood is the best on the list. But Atonement is easily 2nd. Everyone should go seek Atonement out. I can't believe Juno is nominated. Thats close to the bottom of the list of the whole year.

"Atonement" took the spot "Zodiac" should have had.

And while I admittedly have not seen "There Will Be Blood" because I dislike Day-Lewis and the trailer didn't appeal to me, I want Tommy Lee Jones to win for "Elah". I wouldn't count out George Clooney, either, as his peers love him. He WAS excellent in "MC".

There Will Be Blood

No Country...is a great film but it doesn't measure up to There Will Be Blood. Just as the other films don't hold a candle to No Country For Old Men

My picks, dont really know who is going to win:
1-No Country
2-There will be Blood
3-Juno
4-Michael Clayton

Didnt see Atonement, and have no desire to... There Will Be Blood is more like 1a then 2, I just put No Country slighty ahead.
