Difference between 2002 and 2004 Rambo Trilogy

Hi. Probably because part 4 coming out, it seems that a couple of retailers have the 2002 4-disc trilogy (with the metal slipcase) and the 2004 3 disc sets for about $15.. Are there any major difference on the contents of both sets? I'm leaning towards the 4 disc set because of the extra disc..

Thanks

At what store(s) did you see the one with the metal slipcase? AFAIK that one is OOP.

I believe the 2002 has DTS while the other doesn't. The 2004 version has an alternate ending not found in the previous release of the first film.

It's a local DVD retailer that has them for $16 here .

I just back from picking one up.. There were lots of them that were dented, but I asked them to open a new case and picked a fresh one..

One thing that bugged me was the metal slipcover chewed up the back of the box while trying to slide it out.. I also didn't like they way there were flippers..

They also gave me an advanced pass to Rambo 4 on Jan 24th.. I guess I'll try to go through the discs before watching it..
Later

Yes it does that to the back of the case.

Here's a link to a thread I've made, might help give you more info.

I've seen lots of them at my local Suncoasts. I've also seen them at the extremely overpriced places like Borders and Barnes & Noble, likely because those stores are extremely overpriced.

Numerous FYE stores have the metal case 4 disc set. I had own the second crappier movies separately for a while and I found the metal case for $24.99 about a year ago and bought that one instead. It has commentaries that the new three do not have. The 2004 First Blood has a Stallone commentary not found on the original one. And the new ones have some stupid survival featurettes or some crap like that. Also the metal case has the fourth disc with documentaries and stuff. I'd say it's worth buying the metal case and then buying the 2004 First Blood because the Stallone commentary is actually very good.

There is another recent thread on this.

There are at least three different releases on the trilogy, and each one has special features not on the others. So woe to the OCD completists amongst us.
