I posted a few times with some questions about the game on the official PS3 thread, and was a little surprised that only there wasn't more interest in the game, considering the dearth of "exclusive" (in this case, timed exclusive) games for the PS3. At this point, I think I'm going to wait for the inevitable price drop.

How is the competition/community online?

Are you playing with a mouse and keyboard? If not, do you feel like you're at a disadvantage during multiplayer?

If I've never played Unreal Tournament before (hey, I'm more of a console gamer) will it take a while to get used to it?

no i played controller... the thing is... blocking players with keyboard and mouse is one option away... so it's a non issue...

i was getting 20 kills in matches after only 30 minutes of play time with the controller... i am fairly experienced at shooters, but there was no severe disadvantage anyway...

the game is at a very high level of polish...

the online community was rocking...

games quickfast...

beaucoup options... vote for levels even in quick game...

it's really cool... and i mean some top flight graphics...

I picked it up, but I've yet to play it. I still need to set-up my PSN account.

This game is all kinds of awesome. I got it from Gamefly and wasn't expecting a whole lot, but it's a blast online and off. I haven't even messed around with all the different mods out there.

Stupid thing keeps saying I'm Not Signed-in So I can't play online? WTF is up with that.

It was working fine last night and Warhawk works fine.

I was on a server using this mod last night, I don't like it, wish there was a way to turn it off on servers that did use it. It's cool at first, but the character model obstructs such a big part of the screen that it winds up doing much more harm than good. It works well in Gears... since you would switch to first person mode to do most of the shooting, not as much here.

I am pretty excited to play this, especially when I found out it had mouse and keyboard support. I am old school PC gamer. I might wait until I can pick this up used for decent price.

According to the NPD numbers the PS3 version outsold the PC version with sales over a hundred thousand. That is actually pretty good for this title (about the same number as Uncharted and much more than R&C Future) I would expect that number to continue to grow on the PS3.

Sounds like Epic delivered on the PS3 version as most everyone seems to have positive things to say about it.

Grr. I wanted to play a little before work, but couldn't join anything. I think the problem was that now that the game is out in Europe every server that I tried to join this morning was running the EU version, which isn't compatible yet with the US version (different versions of the "core" until it's patched).

Did I understand that correctly? You can exclude players with a keyboard/mouse from games?

Correct.

As a player, you can see which servers allow it by the little mouse icon in the server listing.

Re: Unreal Tournament on PS3

Big update coming on March 4 ... split-screen multiplayer, new maps, some (or all?) of the previously 360-exclusive maps, new game modes, new mutator, two new weapons, two new characters, and PS3 trophies. Free!

Full details on Beyond Unreal.

I'm glad they're still giving this game some support. I don't know how well it did as far as sales, but as a fan of the series I really enjoy it.

THAT ROCKS!

I picked this up during the Target B2G1F sale a few week back. Guess I'll wait for the update to get into it.

Is that a double entendre?

... "blow off some steam" vs "blow off some Steam"?

The game has been out on 360 for awhile now. You can get it for under $20.

Re: Unreal Tournament on PS3

These updates are certainly a bit of welcome (and surprising) news. I had bought this game last year for ~ $16 but hadn't gotten around to playing it yet. Should have waited since now it has dropped to $4.96 at the Canadian arm of Circuit City (although no one can find it in stock anymore).

Re: Unreal Tournament on PS3

I would like to revisit this game especially in the coop against bots so to get some achievements. The game came and went pretty fast which is a shame because it really rocks and the maps are just awesome.
