Is there a "Best Of" Foo Fighters CD?

I've finally come around to liking the Foo Fighters a bit after basically avoiding their stuff for however long they've been around. I wanted to give a "Best Of" CD a shot to see if I actually like them or just a select few tracks I've heard.

They put out so many singles and alternative pressings that I can't figure out if any of their CDs are Best Of CDs because I don't know the songs well enough to know the track names. Can anybody point me to a title or link?

nope.

But you can check out their live DVD (not the acoustic "Skin & Bones", but the other one). That has something like 3 concerts on it and is basically a "Best of".

Same here. Then I realized that if I was to make a "best of", each of their CDs would've be represented. So I offered up the live DVD.

So I guess it's pretty close to unanimous then. I think I saw The Colour & The Shape on sale at Amazon, so I'll pick that one up. Thanks everybody.

Colour and the Shape is their best album, but the other CD's have plenty of great singles.

This is a call, Big me, I'll stick around, For all the cows (Foo Fighters)
Learn to Fly, break out (There is nothing left to lose)
All my life, low, lonely as you (One by One)
In your honour, No Way Back, Best of You, DOA, what if I do (In your honor)

I like all of their albums, but LOVE colour and the shape. I wish they had included the song Colour and the Shape as a hidden track on the original release. I'm glad the new remastered version has it.

I've always liked the Foo fighter but after the first album I've kinda just ignored them. Count me in on waiting for a greatest hits, I have a feeling it will be the The Cars greatest hits where one song after another you realize how many songs they've had.

Let's have some fun with this guys. I make my own "Essentials" collection for my favorite artists for my MP3 player. I have a rule: each album must be substantially represented and fit on a single 80 min. CD. Just to narrow it down.

I'll throw out a potential list:

"This Is a Call" – 3:53
"I'll Stick Around" – 3:52
"Big Me" – 2:12
"Alone + Easy Target" – 4:05
"Monkey Wrench" – 3:51
"Hey, Johnny Park!" – 4:08
"My Hero" – 4:20
"Everlong" – 4:10
"Walking After You" – 5:03
"Stacked Actors" – 4:17
"Breakout" – 3:21
"Learn to Fly" – 3:58
"Gimme Stitches" – 3:42
"All My Life" – 4:23
"Low" – 4:28
"Have It All" – 4:58
"Times Like These" – 4:26
"Tired of You" – 5:12
"In Your Honor" – 3:50
"No Way Back" – 3:17
"Best of You" – 4:16
"DOA" – 4:12
"The Pretender" – 4:29
"Let It Die" – 4:05
"Long Road to Ruin" – 3:44

What would you add or cut? Clearly, we'd be way over 80 mins with this.

I just tried to do my 'bare minimum' best of Foo and it came out to well OVER 2 hours. Here's my alternate list to what you've got (I took off anything you already listed) This comes out to 82min even... so if I've got to cut 1 to get it under 80, I'd axe 'Up In Arms' but I think that's a fun little song so I'm keeping it!

"For All The Cows" - 3:30
"Exhausted" - 5:47
"My Poor Brain" - 3:33
"Up In Arms" - 2:15
"New Way Home" - 5:44
"Next Year" - 4:37
"M.I.A." - 4:03
"Lonely As You" - 4:37
"Come Back" - 7:49
"The Last Song" - 3:19
"Resolve" - 4:48
"End Over End" - 5:52
"Still" - 5:13
"Miracle" - 3:29
"Stranger Things Have Happened" - 5:20
"Cheer Up Boys (Your Makeup is Running)" - 3:40
"Summer's End" - 4:37
"Statues" - 3:47

What the Foos need is a dvd compilation of all their videos - they have the strongest line up of some of the best music videos ever made, IMO.

I would cut Let It Die, Best Of YOu, and All My Life. I like the Foo Fighters, but do not like those songs.

Well for the Foo Fighters, you'd also need a best of the "b-sides" CD too. Some of their b-sides and covers are better than much of their album tracks!

I'm really surprised that they don't have some kind of compilation since they've been around a good while. Josh's list sounds like most of the stuff I've heard recently and liked, wish I could pick that up, or at least a portion of it.

Edit: I reread Josh's list and just realized that "Everlong" is the song I couldn't remember but really liked.

Edit 2: Ok so I checked iTunes and all their stuff is available on there for .99/song. So here's my challenge, since you guys certainly seem to know the good stuff spanning all of their albums, if you could (relatively) agree on close to the best 15 tracks that they've got, I'll download all of them and create my own comp list. 15 bucks is what I'm looking to spend max, but if there's more than that I'll go with the group recommendations. No rules from me for making sure the albums are represented or anything, just the straight best 15 songs from these guys would be great.

These songs would definitely be on my "best of":

"This Is a Call"
"I'll Stick Around"
"Big Me"
"Alone + Easy Target"
"Monkey Wrench"
"Stacked Actors"
"Breakout"
"Learn to Fly"
"Times Like These" (acoustic version)
"DOA"
"Ozone"
"Gas Chamber"
"Cheer Up Boys (Your Makeup is Running)"
"All My Life"
"Weenie Beanie"

I don't care what it sounds like, that song will be on my CD. I'll laugh every time it scrolls on the text display. I'll jack up the cost to $16 for that one if it's not as popular.

I'm sure it will eventually happen, but I would prefer it didnt. They have so much good stuff, trying to put it on 1 cd of 15 or so songs wouldnt do the band right.
And for all the people who say The Colour and the Shape IS their best of, thats your opinion, but its a stupid one! haha

I like all their songs really, so I dont know how I can do it, but I'll try to make hits collection here.

EDIT: I tried and I can't do it, No matter what I end up with to many songs, and I was leaving good stuff off, tried to do only hits, still over 20.

Just buy each of their CDs, its totally worth it.
