Just won a PS3 - what do I need to know?

Just won a PS3 at work today, so I now own all three major gaming systems.

Basically, what can you tell me about the PS3? PS3 fanboys, here's your chance to hype your system. I want to know all the neat little things I can do with it.

What games are great? (I'm only interested in PS3-exclusive games)

What Blu-Ray discs are must-owns?

Just tell me about the system. I just ordered an HDMI cable for it, and I think I need an HDMI switch now, since I have four things connected via HDMI, and only one port on my TV.

Thanks, everyone!

Well I'm new to the PS3 myself, but I've been having a lot of fun with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

I only own two games : Ratchet & Clank and Motorstorm. Both are great games and Motorstorm can be had cheap online since it's part of the 80 GB bundle.
The new Disney BR discs (Meet The Robinsons, Cars and Ratatouille) are all truly stunning.

Well Im no PS3 fanboi but here's my take:

Well Uncharted: DF will probably be #1 in my must play category, then Ratchet:ToD. The very good games, both very gorgeous games. If you like FPS, maybe you'd give Resistance a go, but if your getting an FPS just stick with COD4. If you like multiplayer, Warhawk is a great game better than what I expected. If you're into hack and slash games, Heavenly Sword is your game but its too short..you might just wanna rent it...or just get Ninja Gaiden Sigma, its gonna take you a long time to beat this one (although its not really an exclusive).

I actually have the 80GB bundle...that's the one I won, so I have Motorstorm in front of me.

The Disney BRs are all a must, because my wife wants all of them.

Keep it coming, guys. Thanks!

Already got PE for HD-DVD...should arrive tomorrow.

What non-gaming things can I do with the PS3? I've heard it works great as a media hub...can someone explain?

just got mine about a week ago (K-Mart deal) and while I have no games or BD yet I love the thing

start by connecting wirelessly to your computer via router
register at the Playstation Network
download playable demos (start with Uncharted)
you can use your PS3 as a media center by wirelessly sending your pictures, music, video from your computer to the PS3
surf dvdtalk and the internet using the internet browser

Check out The Prestige blu-ray. The movie is great and the transfer is gorgeous. Blu-ray's got a bunch of good movies like Memento, Casino Royale, American Psycho, Black Hawk Down, Closer, just to name a few of the ones that I love.

Ooh...Black Hawk Down. NICE.

I know I'm getting Cars & Ratatouille. I'd like to get the Spiderman Trilogy, and I'd get the Die Hard set if it weren't for the fact that LFoDH is the PG-13 version. The Prestige is listed on the 5 free offer, so I'll pick that up there. I'm trying not to upgrade too many of my DVDs, so we'll see what happens there - I own every single movie I listed above.

Wow... People like Warhawk? I'll have to try it once it drops in price.

I think Ratchet & Clank is one of the few games I played this year that is worth the price of admission. It's more fun than Bioshock, in my opinion.

Warhawk is fun if you want to play other people online and nothing else, but the lack of bots and solo missions sucks. Plus there's no different levels of play online -- newbie, vet, you're in the same game.

Ninja Gaiden is a lot of fun. Resistance is cool but overrated. If you like online play though (and have a Xbox Live Gold account), any online-capable game that's on both platforms should be bought for the 360.

If you like playing college sports games, you can always download player rosters (that people out there always make every year) and transfer them to your PS3 via flash drive.

Keep an eye out for the buy-one-get-one-free Blu-Ray sales, or the $9.99 Blu-Ray sales. They seem to be happening a lot lately, though it's always the same titles.

Yeah...with titles that are available for both systems, I'll definitely only get them on the 360...I'm just curious about the Sony exclusives. I'm kinda pumped to go back and play FF12, since I haven't gotten to do that yet.

Won a PS3? You're a lucky bastard -- that's what you need to know.

Kidding aside, I just picked up a PS3 back in August. Used it mostly for BD, so far. Played a few demos, and based on the first level alone, definitely get Ratchet & Clank. (I'm surprised at how blowing stuff up never gets tiring.)

For BD, check out 300 and Pirates of the Caribbean.

For BD, just buy the movies you really like that happen to be on Blu-ray

I think Resistance is a great choice if you like FPSes, and it's pretty lengthy for a FPS as well. The multiplayer is pretty fun, and they are still releasing new add-on maps for multiplayer. Pretty good for a launch title.

Ratchet and Clank is great fun, though it's not very hard (even for an average gamer like myself)

I'm currently waiting on Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and I hear it's awesome.

You already have MotorStorm

My current game is Call of Duty 4, but that's not an exclusive, and if I had a x360, I probably would have bought that version, just because it seems like more people are currently playing it on Live than the PSN

If you like RPGs, Oblivion is great. Not exclusive, but the PS3 version is supposed to look better and run faster than the x360 version.

Ratchet and Uncharted are both pretty good. Heavenly Sword is OK. All are available to demo from PSN. Check it out.

Pirates 1 & 2, Disney Pixar titles are really nice. Casino Royale is another must own.

Of course, you should do some reading online about review on bother movies and game to see what else I'm missing.

Congratulations on winning a PS3, and have fun with it!

Not so. There are 4 different level servers. If youre new, play on level 1 servers. Higher ranked players can't get in there. Granted, there's no campaign, and no bots (who needs them, when there are 32 players running around) but at $40.00 is a steal. Not to mention that the PSN is free.

If you have a Sony Digital Camera, you can just pop the memory stick into the PS3 and it will display the images. Also, if you have a Sony HD DVD Camcorder, you use the PS3 to view the disc in HD w/o having to use the camera as the player.

I played the Ratchet & Clank demo on the PS3 where I work. It seems like a great game with lots of variety in terms of gameplay.
