LAME! "Extras" complete series set will exclusively have the 90 minute special
According to dvdfile.com:
It was only a week or so ago I saw a commercial on HBO about the "Extras" Christmas special which is the awesome news but now I see this announcement about the complete series box set that includes an "extra special series finale" which I can only assume is the Christmas special. Really freakin' lame.
I already bought both series on DVD when they came out but now HBO expects me to buy them again just to have the special? Why won't they give it an individual release as well for those of us who already own the first two series?
HBO is preparing a 15 January release of Extras: The Complete Series. This hit Ricky Gervais series – for which he just won a Best Actor Emmy – will come with both seasons of the series intact, and will exclusively include a 90-minute ‘extra special series finale’. The show’s anamorphic widescreen transfers and stereo sound mixes will be holdovers from the show’s season-by-season releases. SRP is $49.99.

Interesting, I've purchased and watched both series (Gervais is a comic genius), however, I'll have to wait and see how special this 90-minute special will be before I give another purchase any thought.
Thanks for the heads up though. I'll look for it.

Selling sets is just an annoying nuisance, I do it, but I don't like to. I don't mind when it's just more extras, but when it is something like this it is a pain.

I have Season one and was gonna get the 2nd series until i heard about this set. I'm actually really happy about this. I can sell my season one and get the whole Collection for around $30

I purchased a Region 2 copy of Season 1, so in order to sell mine I'd have to find someone savvy enough to have a region-free player, but also ignorant of this upcoming release.

I may not pick up the complete set right away, but it's a definite purchase at some point for me.

I'd never bought the individual seasons for some reason, so this set will work for me. Wish I always waited for the complete series box sets for shows I like, but am not always that clever.

hbo doesn't have any info on the special (that I can find) nor does wikipedia. I saw the promo, but thought it'd be documented somewhere. anyone know when it airs and all that?
