This has been discussed for many weeks in the newspapers and on TV. Businesses are trying to get people into the stores earlier this year due to slow sales experienced during the past 3-6 months. In addition, they're trying to break people of the habit of waiting until "Black Friday" before shopping.

It's always been done that way at every store every year. Black Friday starts a completely different sales ad. Why's this a bad thing? You get two completely different sales in one week you can take advantage of. So that's double the products that are usually on sale in any given week, as long as you're willing to shop on twice a week. You're taking the glass is half-empty view on this.

I was thinking of getting Hairspray: Shake and Shimmy Edition, but I realized, why drive to Best Buy and pay $25.54 after tax for it when I can have it delivered to me free from DeepDiscount for $19.83 while the sale is still on?

does it list "LFoDH" as a steelbook or just 2-disc SE? seems odd it wouldn't be specified as the exclusive steelbook that 1-3 are...

The ad isn't to clear about whether or not Live Free or Die Hard is a Steelbook or not.

Above the picture of the 2 disc set of LFoDH and the 3 Die Hard films is the words "Best Buy Exclusive Collectible Steel Book Packaging" so there is a possibility that LFoDH is indeed a Steel Book.

Had the 2-disc Green Mile and Departed in my hands tonight at Wal-mart for $9 and put them back. Glad I waited since if I really want 'em I can save a couple of bucks.

Not really, I wasn't all that clear the first time I guess. I was talking more about sales for new releases. I totally see the benifit for two sales for "other" items. But new releases are usually on sale for 7 days, now they are on sale for only 2.

Looks like I'll be getting the following:

Live Free Or Die Hard steelbook
The Green Mile: 2-Disc SE
Blood Diamond: 2-Disc SE

EDIT: Well, I price matched FYE for the SEs of Blood Diamond and The Green Mile. I'll still be picking up the steelbook for Live Free Or Die Hard, though.

Live Free or Die Hard Steelbook is on sale for $22.99. I've got it ordered from bestbuy.com & it shipped Friday. They've adjusted the price down $2 from the $24.99 it was at before.
