Recommend a new 360 game...

My wife got her hair did, so she said I could get a new game. I really haven't been keeping up with new releases so I don't know what is out.

I play single player games, no online competition or anything. I enjoyed COD2, GRAW, Oblivion and Forza.

I am thinking about Bioshock, since it has received 10s. I know Halo is out, but I think this is mainly an online thing.

I was hoping for GTA, but that got delayed. So I guess my question is what are the best, newly released games, or 5* older ones.

I kinda liked the Thrillville demo, but I think that game would be better on a PC. PGR4 I will pass on because I hate the whole Kudos/Drifting element.

Halo has an awesome single player campaign and Bioshock is second to none. I highly reccomend both.

Is COD4 a step above what is currently out?
I enjoyed COD2 and played through twice to get all achievements.

I like games that put a focus on single player. I know some put much effort into the online multi-player and the single mode is short and weak.

I may just borrow GOW from my brother-in-law until this comes out, or maybe assasin's creed.

Orange Box and BioShock are awesome.

Orange Box is a must if you've never played Half-life 2.

Based on this statement, the answer is clearly Bioshock. I just noticed it is on sale at Target for $49. Ends today.

Bioshock is one of the best single player games to come out in awhile.

If you loved GRAW, you will love Rainbow 6 Vegas. One of the best games on the system.

I'd wait till COD 4 releases. If you really want one now, it's either Bioshock or Halo 3.

RB6 Vegas is overrated. Vegas is more like frag festive than objective mission like GRAW 2. I’d stay away from Vegas.

Orange Box or Bioshock!!

You'll get a LOT more play time out of The Orange Box though. Half-Life 2 is pitch perfect and it's sequels (included in the box) are fantastic. Coupled with the best puzzle game of all time (Portal) and an incredible multiplayer experience (if you're eventually into that sort of thing) with Team Fortress 2.

Halo 3, on the other hand, while entertaining, is extremely short, at around 6-8 hours for the average gamer. While Half-Life 2 will take about 15-20 hours, and it's sequels around 5-8 hours each.

I would reccomend The Orange Box. Even thought there were some great FPS's this year, with Bioshock and Halo 3, I still think Half Life 2 and it's episodic expansions beat them both in single player. Plus Portal is the most original and innovative game I have seen in a long time.

Wait, you have to get permission from your wife to get a new game?

Sad.

I have R6:LV and beat it already.
Bioshock for $49 sounds like a good deal.

I am a broke Spartan Grad student, so my wife is the bread winner right now.

Don't buy Bioshock. It's a great game but I beat it in a few days and it has close to zero replay value. I would rent it.

Now, Orange Box... That's a purchase.

I'd even pick Halo 3 over Bioshock if you have any local multiplayer (friends over, that type of thing).

Bioshock for $49 is a waste, IMHO. And I loved the game. I'm just very, very cheap.

Thanks for the info Bus. I didn't read anyplace that it was short.

I am now leaning on the BB HD add-on deal instead. If I can get 2 free in store, plus Heros, 5 by mail and Kong in the box sounds too good to pass up. I have $15 in rewards money, plus I could just sell ( or return) the Heroes DVDs.

How do you get 2 free in store? So the deal is Heroes PLUS 2 in-store, the pack-in was changed from King Kong to Hulk, plus the 5? So 8 movies, 1 series, and the player for $180? eBay here I come

The 2 in store is in the add for buying any HD DVD player. This probably means stand alone, but it is worth a shot, depending on how persuasive you are.

It is Kong, not hulk, my bad:

actually it was posted alreay on dvdtalk in bargains.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread...96&page=1&pp=40

the whole deal is

hd dvd add on
5 free buy mail
king kong in box
2 more free in store (possibly)
heroes first season

$179.99.

I'm hoping to get the same thing Sunday as well. The 2 free HDs will be the deciding factor since I already have Heroes on Dvd.

I guess for some closure...

I got GOW from my brother-in-law. I am not really enjoying it too much. I think they try to pack too much in the a button.

I did see he has Halo 3 ( not a huge fan of the series) and he just bought Orange Box, so i will check that out as well.

bioshock is the most fun i have had with a game in the past year, and i buy A LOT of games. it was the kind of game that i couldn't wait to get back to after working all day or after the kids went to bed. think it took me around 14 hours?

14 is a good number. I'm with you. I've played a TON of games this year and this is the only one that blew me away.

I finished Halo 3 last week and I'm looking forward to delving back into Bioshock on the hard setting.
