The original double feature disc was Anamorphic.

Good for people that missed out I guess.

But, come on Anchor Bay, start giving us some new titles.

I think the 70s & 80s were the “Golden Era” for the horror genre, but I’ve never seen Silent Night, Deadly Night. Is it any good?

If it’s good than I’ll definitely pick it up when it’s released, hell, if it’s mediocre I’ll still pick it up.

I never caught Black Christmas until last year when it was re-released as a ‘special edition’ & although I don’t love the film like some people do, it was a good buy. Yes, I do agree that Anchor Bay needs to stop re-releasing things & put out some different titles.

The people at Anchor Bay must really love Halloween & Hellraiser.

in it's unrated form - yes, there's some great gore fx and one very memorable murder sequence

This isn't a threadcrap because there's two ways to answer this question.

It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. However it's sequel is even worse.

That being said, I'll still buy it. Just as I own my top favorites, I also own my bottom 5. And this one is in it.

honestly I haven't seen the sequel, but from what I have heard about it, a sizeable chunck of the movie is a bunch of footage from the first film... why bother?

Too bad part 2 isn't included... for a good laugh. I've got the double feature but I can never get through part 2. The first one is a lot of fun, if nothing else. Worth a purchase for $10.

The fact that part 2 is really a long recap of the 1st one with about 30 min or so of new footage is part of its charm. Also, the recap is intermixed with some new footage. Part 2 is famous for a certain person's acting. It is worth it. In fact, Part 2 is far more entertaining to me than Part 1. I don't watch Part 2 because it is good, I watch it because it is drop-dead hilarious.

Does this re-release of Part 1 include any additional footage over the original release? I already own the original.

I remember the negative publicity when this was released into theatres, but never did see it. For $10, I would probably blind buy it, but otherwise that makes it a rental for me pending the reviews.

apparently a lot of newspapers and theatres were appalled by the one sheet of the arm of Santa climbing down the chimney with an axe.

I also would like to see Anchor Bay release some new titles but back on subject, it is a good re-release since the original double feature DVD is OOP. Part 2 is priceless though.... "GARBAGE DAY!"

Part 2 is a hilarious film and the commentary is entertaining as well. The writer ponders why the film never became the cult classic he intended it to be? Well he should be proud, that the film has gained a cult following. It may not be huge, but it exists!

And for those that think just skipping part 1 and watching part 2 is 'good enough' since all the 'highlights' from the first are included. Well you miss out on the gore, since they used the R rated print of the first film to edit the new part 2 scenes into.

part 1 is a pretty good sleazy film though. It's pretty disturbing as well in tone,as you see how Billy becomes the killer he is. But it's definitely a cheesy film and their are some camp moments in it. But mostly it's just a mean spirited disturbing film.

What I'm wondering too. I've got the DF disc of part 1 & 2, was part 1 of it a cut version? I'm confused as to why this is billed as "uncut and uncensored"

I just picked it up on Amazon Marketplace, for $20. I sold mine a while back, and I've been kicking myself ever since. I don't need the uncut version and this way, I should have it in time to watch them for the horror challenge.

Because this thread is asking for it, and people need to know:

Silent Night, Deadly Night 2's infamous "garbage day" scene:

Do you mind if I ask why you would want to own the 5 worst movies you've seen?
