I think the 70s & 80s were the “Golden Era” for the horror genre, but I’ve never seen Silent Night, Deadly Night. Is it any good?
If it’s good than I’ll definitely pick it up when it’s released, hell, if it’s mediocre I’ll still pick it up.
I never caught Black Christmas until last year when it was re-released as a ‘special edition’ & although I don’t love the film like some people do, it was a good buy. Yes, I do agree that Anchor Bay needs to stop re-releasing things & put out some different titles.
The people at Anchor Bay must really love Halloween & Hellraiser.

It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. However it's sequel is even worse.
That being said, I'll still buy it. Just as I own my top favorites, I also own my bottom 5. And this one is in it.

Too bad part 2 isn't included... for a good laugh. I've got the double feature but I can never get through part 2. The first one is a lot of fun, if nothing else. Worth a purchase for $10.

I rented the dual disk one, but never bought it. I'll have to grab it now.

Does this re-release of Part 1 include any additional footage over the original release? I already own the original.

I remember the negative publicity when this was released into theatres, but never did see it. For $10, I would probably blind buy it, but otherwise that makes it a rental for me pending the reviews.

I also would like to see Anchor Bay release some new titles but back on subject, it is a good re-release since the original double feature DVD is OOP. Part 2 is priceless though.... "GARBAGE DAY!"

Part 2 is a hilarious film and the commentary is entertaining as well. The writer ponders why the film never became the cult classic he intended it to be? Well he should be proud, that the film has gained a cult following. It may not be huge, but it exists!
And for those that think just skipping part 1 and watching part 2 is 'good enough' since all the 'highlights' from the first are included. Well you miss out on the gore, since they used the R rated print of the first film to edit the new part 2 scenes into.
part 1 is a pretty good sleazy film though. It's pretty disturbing as well in tone,as you see how Billy becomes the killer he is. But it's definitely a cheesy film and their are some camp moments in it. But mostly it's just a mean spirited disturbing film.

Because this thread is asking for it, and people need to know:
Silent Night, Deadly Night 2's infamous "garbage day" scene:
