Glad I found your post - I must have this set!
A bit more info I found on AMC.com - the press release mentions that viewers will be able to toggle back and forth between black and white and color, sounds cool. Also, I was not to sure if the colorized versions of these films was a good idea, but after reading below what he says about how he wanted the movies to be in color in the first place, well, if that's the way Mr. Harryhausen wanted it, it's good enough for me!....

I also read somewhere, don't recall where, that he was actively involved in the colorization so that kinda helps too.
And as long as the B/W ones are there, and remastered, the people who dislike colorization can skip the colored ones.
Just need to find pics of the figurine. Just to see if it's worth the extra as they will probably sell just the DVDs on their own as well later on.

Well I pre-ordered it. Lowest Price guarantee seems good.
It's $62.13 at DDD and Amazon Canada wants $72.77 CDN (which is
a real rip as the CDN dollar is worth $1.03 US - LOL!)
Anyway, I can always cancel later on.

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
Are there plans to eventually remaster all of Harryhausen's Columbia movies? I have the two sets they put out (Legendary Monsters and Legendary Sci-Fi), but pretty much every movie in those sets could stand to be remastered.

I received this memo on the set the other day:
"Please note that the Ray Harryhausen In Color Gift Set will not be available in December. Ray Harryhausen In Color Gift Set DVD will now be releasing in June 2008."
Bummer, but it should be worth the wait.

I really hope Columbia will follow this up with a set of 2-disc special editions of the Sinbad movies.
Then perhaps a set of 2-disc special editions of the remaining Columbia films: Jason, Mysterious Island, Gulliver and First Men In The Moon.
A double-dip after almost ten years is certainly warranted, especially with these classics. The existing discs are adequate, but not that great.
