"Yes they deserved to die. I hope they burn in hell." quote from which film??
My cousin and I had a bit of a debate a couple of weeks ago about which film this quote is from. I know that Samuel L. Jackson says it, and I'm just about 100% positive it's from the movie A Time To Kill, where his little girl gets raped and left for dead.
My cousin hasn't seen that movie but insists that the quote is from another courtroom based drama also starring Sam Jackson, Rules of Engagement. I have seen this movie, but I only watched it once when it first came out which was a number of years back. The plausability of something like that being said in that film isn't entirely out of the question though.
So basically with this thread, which my cousin might very likely read, I want to prove him wrong and clarify whether or not something similar was said in Rules of Engagement too. I find it odd that something like that would be uttered by the same actor in two courtroom-based films only about 5 years or so apart, especially since they're both dead serious dramas and not intended to be campy at all.
SO PLEASE LET'S GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS WITH AS MANY GOOD RESPONSES AS POSSIBLE. THANKS.

As some of you know, I'm stonecountry's cousin. I could've sworn that it was from RoE as well, or at least a line very close to it. Anyway, here is the line that I have been thinking of:
Colonel Terry L. Childers: "Yes they had weapons! You think there's a script for fighting a war without pissing somebody off? Follow the rules and nobody gets hurt? Yes, innocent people probably died. Innocent people always die but I did not exceed my orders."
I guess I heard that first part, where he exclaimed it with such passion, and simply heard the more famous line from A Time to Kill and got the two mixed up.
And stonecountry, I figured this out the very night we talked about it. You should've asked me if I ever looked into it.
I can feel a little better knowing that I'm not the only one to get the two confused.:

But seriously though, you know Dustin Hoffman wasn't in Star Wars, right?
That's classic!
