Just FYI: new prices at Amazon marketplace have been around $6 for quite awhile. W/ free shipping, DD is cheaper. So if you want it, get it -- you're saving $3. Just pointing out that it is probably not a misprice & resale value is limited.

I don't think that I've ever seen a new two-disc release for a $6 street price. It has to be a price mistake.

I jumped ...

It's not new; it came out 2 years ago. It's probably a price drop.

Full screen? According to IMDB, OAR is 1.85:1. I'd love to jump on this, but if the aspect ratio is wrong, I'll pass. Anyone know what that actual proper aspect ratio is? IMDB has been wrong before...

Well, duh ...

I had just looked at the "release" date. I could have added "50" to 1955, couldn't I?

I think they do those weird release dates setting the date for an official price drop.

Review here says full screen. Considering the age of the film, the "Academy" aspect ratio could be original.

the movie's a Public Domain title, so there has never been a good release of this title. Check DVDBeaver yourself if you don't believe me

Yes, but as DVD Beaver also reports, this is the best version of the film on DVD at this time. and at $6, the disc is now comparably priced to the lesser releases.

This is true... But to follow up domino harvey's post, don't expect anything other than the 50th AE is the best currently available transfer of this title. It still has problems. But yeah, this one is as good as it gets for now.

i don't know...Pal speedup is pretty bad. I'd almost take a scratchy print over that
