I can never tell what is real and what is an act with him. Wow, that was either a bit of Andy Kaufman like greatness or Glover is a total wack job.

I remember seeing that 'live' and being shocked. I think it was the first time I saw a 'big star' (keep in mind Back to the Future and Friday the 13th Part 4 were two movies I watched constantly at the time, so he seemed like a star to me at that age) do something so insane. My friends were jealous they missed George McFly totally freak out.

There's no way the guy could be that nuts and still get hired for halfway respectable roles. Granted he doesn't work much anymore but he did when he made that wacko appearance. I vote for it being an act.

He was supposedly in-character as Rubin from the movie Rubin and Ed.

His director's commentary for the "music video" on the Willard DVD is amazingly fast and worth checking out.

While I'm sure he was "in character," I can guarantee Letterman hated that shit.

Glover long didnt want to confirm or deny what was up but in recent years he copped that it was all an in character (for "Rubin and Ed") piece. He was on Letterman again just a few years later, no big deal.

Well, that was what everyone loved about the ol' Dave. He hated most everybody, or at least the BS of 90% of stars on talk shows, and he made it known. These days, Dave just doesn't have that bite. Guess the heart surgeries, kids, and getting passed over for Leno will do that to you.

He has the bite - I think he still detests pathetic celebrities. He's just a little calmer since the heart surgery. When I was working there, there was a noticeable (understandably) change in demeanor.

I love Glover. He's completely on his own wavelength. He reminds me of what David Lynch would be if he were a regular actor.

Dave likes the liberal celebs and seems to cater to them and maybe that's why he never beats Leno in the ratings.
