The Criterion is anamorphic so I am in no rush. However, a decent quality Blu-ray version could get me to double dip.

I'll wait to see how the extras compares with the Criterion before I decide to buy this edition.

Meaning of Life from Universal was pretty terrible. If Sony can do a better job cleaning up this one for Blu-ray I'll buy in. I'm not expecting perfection, but Meaning of Life was among the worst HD transfers I have seen.

I've got the Criterion release, so I'll see how this release compares first before buying.

Does this mean that the Criterion will go out of print?

I've been thinking of upgrading my less-than-spectacular Anchor Bay edition - I'll get either this or the Criterion depending on reviews.

What a great film...

The only piece of Python I don't own. I was never a huge fan of this one but a decent release with some good extras will get me to finally pick this up.

I'll get it. It will likely run about $14.99 and for an hour-long documentary that's not bad. Plus in any case Sony will probably be able to muster a slightly better transfer -- I know the Criterion's problems are probably all film-related, but it has been several years since Criterion's disc and restoration/mastering has probably improved.

Cool, I've wanted to replace my (stolen) CC version. This should be the way.

This is a good question - not to interrupt the "go buy a Blu-ray" banter that seems to have moderately hijacked the thread...
