Looks like WAR is doing worse than expected. I like seeing Superbad doing Supergood, but next week I'm sure Halloween is going to knock it off.

Looks like MGM/Weinstien have yet another big bomb on their hands with the Nanny Diaries.

Everyone rags on Evan Almighty for being such a failure, and rightfully so, but let's not let The Invasion go unpunished. That is a disaster. I'm surprised Warners still has it playing in that many theaters. I'm sure next weekend, they'll pull it from more than half that. It has a production budget of $80 million. ouch.

I wonder will this news prompt a release of "The ORINAL UNRATED CUT!!!!!" on DVD. Not that I imagine Hirschbiegel's original cut is that extreme, just that I imagine that's what it would say on the box. At any rate, I'd really like to see the pre-James-McTeigue version.

And the marketing they did for it when they clearly had so many problems with it. I think I saw more commercials for this film than any other movie this summer.

I wouldn't mind seeing the original version one day. Unrated or not.

Actually considering industry estimates were around 10 million, it right on target.

I hope Nanny Diaries does a little better with the Sat/Sun numbers. Bunch of kids with their parents in my theatre that probably couldn't go on Friday.

And it's actually a really good movie! Got lots of laughs and "awws" out of the audience. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the kids were well-behaved and very into the movie.

I think Balls of Fury might do better than expected but I think Superbad will be #1 next weekend. Its labor day weekend kids are going back to school and wouldn't you rather see a comedy about raunchy teens than an update of a classic horror movie?

Superbad will be #3 next weekend. Nothing really big came out this weekend so it held #1. Horror movies tend to do really good their first weekend so I think Halloween will get #1. Balls of Fury seems be aimed at the same audience Superbad is aimed at but it is new so I think that will be #2.

Do the studios decide when to pull films? I assumed it was up to the individual theaters.

I was thinking the same thing. Plus Scarlet Johanson isn’t as god damn irritating as Mr. Bean, fu*k he’s annoying. I’m going to be picking up The Nanny Diaries on DVD for one reason. The reviews for the movie aren’t outstanding but their not downright horrible either, it’s supposed to be an average movie.

The Yari Film Group is going to need some help resurrecting their money back after the piss poor Box Office performance of Resurrecting the Champ. The movie sound interesting & I’ll check it out on DVD. I like Alan Alda, Samuel L. Jackson & Kathryn Morris, Josh Harnett is Ok & I really don’t like Teri Hatcher.

Wow, I thought "Resurrecting the Champ" was really good, atleast being #6 opening w/e, but #15! WTF? Maybe late August wasn't a good time to release a drama like it was.
