Is there a Terminator boxed set?

I was looking for a Terminator boxed set with all 3 movies, or even just the first two, and I can't find a listing for one.

Does a boxed set exist?

I think it is odd when movie studios don't package trilogies into box sets - last time I checked there was no box set for the recent Star Wars trilogy, and the X-Men box looks really cheap.

No, because in this case the films come from different studios/rights holders.

3 movies owned by 3 different studios = no chance of a box set.

You could always put them in a Paul Champagne box:

I've seen about 10 boxsets but you're gonna have to shop outside Wal-Mart to get them.

If you're open for non-R1 regions then you can buy Australian box:

I’d just suggest buying the 3 movies separately like I did. The Terminator is like $9 & T2: Judgment Day can either be bought as the ‘extreme edition’ or in a double feature, with Total Recall included. T3 can be found for $10-$15 bucks as well. All in all it might cost you $30 at most for all 3 films.

There isn't a box set in Region 1.

The Terminator is MGM (via Orion). T2 is Lion's Gate (via Artisan). And T3 is Warner Bros.

Is Terminator 4'-6 (I remember reading that dependent on the receipts for the fourth film, coming out next summer, that they would want to do an entire new trilogy) Warner Brothers as well?

There can still be a box set with different studios involved (Red Curtain Trilogy). But yeah in this case, not too likely.

I also read that T4 is the start of a second trilogy.

If you really want to break it out, Orion and Artisan no longer exist.

The Terminator was produced by Orion, which disbanded and sold their catalog to MGM. MGM still holds the rights, but currently distribute all DVDs through Fox.

Terminator 2 was produced by Carolco, which disbanded and sold their catalog to Live Enterment, which later became Artisan Entertainment, which was later merged into Lionsgate.

Terminator 3 was co-produced by several smaller companies including C-2 Pictures (a spin-off of Carolco) and Intermedia, none of which handle their own distribution. US distribution rights are licensed to Warner Bros, but internationally it's distributed by Sony.

Complicated enough for ya?

Not sure what one would still want from the 2-disc T3 already out. It looks and sounds phenomenal, and has a fair amount of extra stuff, and I find copies all the time used for ~$3.99.

Has anyone ordered any of these? They look pretty nice, but I'm wondering how they hold up. I'm thinking about getting one to hold all the Star Wars discs.

Personally I'd like to see a new edition of THE TERMINATOR with a commentary track by Cameron like he did with TERMINATOR 2. I found his comments enlightening and entertaining. TERMINATOR 3 probably isn't going to get a re-release but MGM recently just tried to cash-in again on T1 with the "Lenticular Edition," so maybe all hope isn't lost for another edition of the film with additional special features not included in the "Special Edition" released in 2001. With Terminator 2, it is quite frankly impossible to surpass the quality of the features already showcased on the Xtreme and Ultimate Editions. And yeah, I'm with everybody else here in terms of the hopes of seeing a box set with all three films packaged together. Unless it's out of region or a non-legit release, good luck finding one. Hopefully if T4 is a good film we'll see some quality bonus features with that film's DVD edition (and possibly a renewed interest in improving the quality of the first TERMINATOR dual-layered disc (which was pretty packed in its own right in the first place, but an improvement would be welcome, like I said, with a new commentary, new interviews, etc). THE TERMINATOR films is my favorite trilogy and I'm always willing to upgrade for more extras and more insights that I haven't explored yet in terms of looking at the film through a different lens. That's what makes the whole movie-making process so magical for me.

Does anyone know if Artisain owned the rights to T2 or leased them? both Artisan and Live Entertainment released versions of T1 on VHS. I'm guessing they leased the right to T1 since it seems MGM owns that film.

Expect another version of T2 sometime, since lionsgate has yet to release it with there name stamped on it.

There's a place near me that sells used DVD's and VHS tapes. One tape that stuck out to me was a T1 and T2 collectors edition. Double boxed featuring both films.
It's not a bootleg.

When Carolco went under, they sold their catalog to Live, which later renamed itself Artisan, which then merged with Lionsgate. Lionsgate owns the film in North America; they don't license it from anyone else.

Lionsgate own T2? Don't they just lease it from Vivendi-Universal thru Canal+ ? That's my understanding.

MGM do own The Terminator.

Who cares who owns the POS T3.
