Can someone recommend a good beach read?

Hey all -

I'm going to the beach in a couple of weeks and would appreciate a good book recommendation. I'm looking for a thriller -- something edge-of-your-seat / scary (preferably not scary in the supernatural sense). Something smartly written but a fun read.

Anything come to mind?

James Rollins' The Judas Strain. Just came out in hardcover. (A smart, fast-paced thriller with a beach in it!)

You can't go wrong with the Travis McGee stories by John D. MacDonald. Exciting, rough, sexy, and he lives on a boat.

I took a couple of the Hard Case Crime books being discussed in the other threads on my beach trip - don't know about scary, and I haven't checked all of them out yet, but they tend to be fun, quick reads.

I'm just getting into the Travis McGee books myself, but that's definitely another possibility. And many of the Richard Stark's Parker books are also good, fun and quick.
