Mystery Science Theater 3000 Vol. 2 rerelease?
I just got a new copy of the MST3k Vol. 2 for my birthday. It was a dupe, as I also have it used. It looks like they made some alterations that I was curious about. Cosmetically, it no longer has the moveable cover pieces, which have been replaced by a picture of the two hosts and the three robots. Also the time lengths have been changed for two of the episodes.
Original version:
Angels Revenge - 94 mins
Cave Dwellers - 97 mins
Pod People - 97 mins
Shorts Vol. 1 - 92 mins
New version
Angels Revenge - 92 mins
Cave Dwellers - 97 mins
Pod People - 97 mins
Shorts Vol. 1 - 93 mins
Does anyone know if this was just a correction of a data entry error, or did they mess with the episode lengths themselves?

Since I doubt there are many people out there that have two copies of this to compare, don't you think that you are probably the best candidate to compare the running times? It's not that difficult to put them in your player and see how long the films actually run. If they're the same length on both sets, case solved.

I doubt they cut anything. I'm pretty sure the episodes were originally 97 minutes until Comedy Central forced in more commercials and it became a 92 minutes show from there on. 94 was a typo. Sucks they changed the boxes.

It does suck they changed the boxes on Vol 2 and I still hate myself for selling volumes 1-8 about 18 months ago. Vol 2 is the highest one on my want list now to get back (I've gotten 1,3 and 5 back so far). MST3K board posters where I visit would have pointed this out and griped long ago if the re-release had been edited.

And I would have done the comparison myself, but one is sealed.
