High School Musical 2

The first one was really good. Great songs too! I heard they'll be at tv guide(aug.13th issue)that has a cd-rom that features behind the scenes, pics, and some interviews. I just hope they keep the quality and originality they had with the first movie. Anyone here into this movie too??

Some friends were visiting with their 4 yo daughter, and she was watching this on TV, and I think this plays in a continous loop in one of the rooms in the "special hell" that Book referred to on Firefly.

I liked the first one, too, though I thought the middle was a little too song-less.

I tried to watch the original just to see what the hype was about. I only made it about 20 minutes in. For the first time in my life I felt *completely* out of touch because I did not get this at all. Honestly it just seemed like every other cheesy Disney kid/teen show, except even cornier.

Though I will admit that in a way I'm happy there are young people embracing something this innocuous and almost old-fashionedly clean cut, instead of party girls and thugs.

I'll watch anything with Zach!
I enjoyed the music and dancing even though it was mindless fluff aimed at a young audience.

It's a nice, wholesome Disney movie, reminds me too of the classic movie Grease.

Kinda waitin for tv guide's special HSM2 issue, I think it's coming out probably as early as Aug 9. It's a good issue, kids may love it too!

Alright, maybe its just me, but some of the Disney Channel original series have a very classic TGIF feel to them. Not great sitcoms in the vein of Cheers and Seinfeld....just some Family Matter and Perfect Strangers quality to kill 30 minutes.

Who's going to get the special HSM 2 cd-rom aside from me?

LOL Ihave both Hannah Montana CD's. Strictly bubble-gum pop so it is great background music. First cd has way too many "I am two people" songs but it is still fun. The other day at work I was alternating her two CD's with Garbage. My coworkers thought I was on crack. lol

I agree clemente. Not great but very funny tgif type material. :-)

I caught a clip on The Soup from showing the "baseball game song".

The aforementioned special room? They added on.

Maybe you should rewatch Grease if you think it's comparable to a nice, wholesome Disney movie

I don't remember a Disney movie with pregnancy scares and cars described as pussy wagons that makes chicks cream, while getting you lots of tit

Videofan, tell me more about this cd-rom, you seem unaffiliated with TV Guide and Disney.

BTW, I hope HSM2 as wholesome as Grease and Sweeney Todd.

Disney's 'High School Musical 2' Breaks Cable Records

Disney Channel’s “High School Musical 2” broke records Friday night to become the most-watched basic cable television event of all time.
The much-anticipated sequel to Disney Channel’s enormously successful 2006 movie drew 17.2 million viewers.
*snip*
Compared to broadcast network programming, the “HSM2” audience was equivilent to last season’s average viewership for an episode of CBS’s “CSI” or ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.”
I can see why the target audience likes these movies, but, damn, the songs were so overproduced that it must be like porn for fans of Pro Tools.

I'm surprised that Disney didn't decide to premiere High School Musical 2 on ABC instead of on the Disney Channel. That could have resulted in ratings more akin to Fox's American Idol.

I was thinking the same thing. If they didn't want to alienate the Disney Channel, they could have at least simulcast it with cast interviews in the commercial breaks being exclusive to the Disney Channel or something.

FWIW, I guess I understand the "tweener" appeal of these movies, but wow, are they bad. Rolling Stone's interview with the star of these movies made him seem somewhat dubious of the whole "High School Musical" fame he's acquired, but he needs to realize that he needs to milk this for all he can because once this dries up, he doesn't really have an ounce of acting talent on which to rely. Some of the cast seems talented enough as singer/dancers, but none of them seem like they can act their way out of a paper bag.
