The Town that Dreaded Sundown and Twins of Evil: will these ever be released on DVD?

Twins of Evil got a region 2 release. It was originally included in "Hammer House of Horror: The Vampire Collection" (I had picked that one up!) and the good news is it has been recently re-released:

Check to see if your player is a region free one.

I don't think either of them are. My main player is an HD-A1 and the player in my living room is a Emerson DVD/VCR combo. I don't count my PS2 or PC as players.

I've always wanted to see The Town That Dreaded Sundown.

Considering all the old exploitation/horror movies that are being released by the barrelful now, I wouldn't be surprised if either of them didn't get a release by next Halloween.

I wouldnt mind The Town That Dreaded Sundown getting a DVD release. In fact, I wouldnt mind a whole load of 70/80s horrors getting a release. I have been waiting on a fair few for ages now, but each Halloween, there is never any announcements. Slaughter High, Curtains, Night School, Final Exam, Iced, Terror On Tour etc to name a few. Here is hoping they see some life on DVD someday soon.

As for The Town That Dreaded Sundown, it says that American International Pictures released the film. I looked into some of the releases from AIP and it states squirm as one of them and squirm (which was made in 1976) was released by MGM on DVD. I understand that rights can change hands to any film, but I wouldnt be suprised if MGM/FOX has the rights.

You know, I think its funny how there's so much crap on DVD that keeps getting re-released, yet they won't even give these movies a chance. Throw a few of them on DVD, put them out around halloween and people will buy them. There's an audience for these old cult classic films and I think whoever owns them just doesn't want to go through the trouble of remastering them and putting them on DVD.

I remember finding a brand new VHS copy of The Town That Dreaded Sundown at a Blockbuster in Nashville like 5 years ago. I found it so odd that they had a new copy of it. So I picked it up.

I always like The Town That Dreaded Sundown. It's been a long time, and I might be overrating it, but I can't believe it came from the same writer/director that made the MST3K classic Boggy Creek 2.

You might get more responses in International Forum, but for the money, this player is hard to beat. Plays everything with no worries. I have an older player though and you may need to make sure their new models are hackable. If you don't need or care about an upconverting player then there are some cheaper players that will do the job.
