More Futurama starting in Nov!!!

Link
Futurama is back, and now we know in what form. The show will return on November 27th as a full-length high-def film sold on DVD. It will be followed by three additional films, and each film will be divided into four episodes each to be aired on Comedy Central. So, that's 4 DVD movies or 16 new episodes depending on how you look at it.
Sweet!

Well, I searched here because I thought it would be of note as it would be aired on Comedy Central as well.

AWESOME!!! I didn't think it would be here so soon (The original thread was talkin 2008). So where can I put in my pre-order? I hope it comes out on HD-DVD, cause I have yet to get Blu-Ray (more than likely it's gonna only be Blu-Ray though since FOX doesn't do HD-DVD)

"full-length high-def film sold on DVD"

First off, we all know that blu-ray is not a dvd.

Secondly, it sounds like the movie/dvd deal is exclusively thru Comedy Central. South Park is all released thru Paramount (at least I know the movie is), so maybe this is going to be distributed thru Paramount which does release on HD DVD.

It might be aired on Comedy Central, but Futurama is owned by Fox, not Paramount, so who knows what the deal is here. Most likely it will just go straight to DVD and not appear on either HD mat.

I can't wait for this. I recently picked up seasons 2-4 at Walmart and have been watching it sequentially. I really think this show was underappreciated, especially at a time when the Simpsons was going downhill...

The problem was that FOX eventually shoved this show into a crappy Sunday timeslot and almost always preempted this show with Football. Add to it that FOX never really gave the show a big advertising push.

The show starts airing on Adult Swim and gets some advertising, along with a stable time to watch the show and its popularity takes off.

I'm glad that the movies will be on DVD and the show is not returning to FOX in any way. I'll never go back to watching FOX ever again.

Adult Swim is Cartoon Network, not Comedy Central which is where it will run (even though the series itself runs on Adult Swim on CN).

If this was aimed at me, I was talking about the show and how it grew in popularity because it was on Adult Swim.

My last sentence is the only one to address the new DVD's/split up episodes.

Anyone want to bet how long before CC changes it's schedule rotation and move it to the wee hours of the night a la Duckman/the Tick/TV funhouse?

That video is great. I love the "BOX" corporation sign. The crowd really seemed to like the outcome

Good to see it coming back. Do you think that people are going to have too high expectations like they did for Family Guy when it returned and think the episodes stink?

Here's the full plot synopsis:
"As Xmas 3007 approaches, the “Futurama” crew must fight to save Earth in an epic battle against nudist alien Internet scammers. When the evil naked aliens launch a cyber-attack on Planet Express, they make a shocking discovery: the secret of time travel, mysteriously tattooed on Fry's buttocks. Using their devious nudist software to control Bender, they repeatedly send the beer-fueled robot back in time to loot Earth of its greatest treasures. Bender's rampage through history has shocking repercussions when he encounters Al Gore (guest-starring as himself) during the 2000 Presidential recount. Meanwhile, Leela finds true love, a beloved crew member suffers an embarrassing decapitation, and Fry learns deep secrets about his destiny and his buttocks."

I have been seeing that Adult Swim is running a Futurama marathon starting the 26th.

They way I understood this is this is the last marathon, it seems they will no longer be able to play episodes?

Is this correct? Where will I get my late night fry fix?

Comedy Central picked up the rights a while ago. I watched the occasional ep on CN, but I can do without CC's popup ads every 45 seconds. I guess it's time to finally get the last 2 dvd sets.
